Description of iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle SeatEasy and safer loading and unloading of the child, enclosed leg wells for comfort and safety, seat fits most children four years old and younger. Created by parents who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available, the iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle seat was made to offer families the best biking experience possible in safety and comfort. This front mounted seat offers both parent and child excellent range of vision, with the opportunity to interact as they bike together. Noted for its ease of use, the seat takes just a few minutes to install and remove, and it is equally easy and safe to load and unload the child from the seat. Providing plenty of clearance for the knees so that the adult can bike with ease, the seat is positioned so that it is easy to maintain the center of gravity. This adaptable seat fits any adult bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches of clearance on the handlebar stem. The iBert Safe-T seat was developed after its creators became frustrated with the available bike seat options for children. They found that bike trailers kept their kids uncomfortably far away from them, got too hot in the sun, and only provided a limited view out to the children. The rear-mounted seats presented similar problems. The kids had a limited view and it was difficult to interact with them. Additionally, the balance of the bike was off and it was not easy to load and unload the kids. Other front mounted seats were complicated to hook onto the bike and difficult to remove. These seats also did not allow knee clearance for biking, and as a result were not comfortable. The iBert Safe-T seat offers a variety of safety and comfort advantages compared to other child bike seat options. The iBert Safe-T seat allows you to maintain control of the bike when loading and unloading your child. To load and unload the child, you simply straddle the bike and lift the child into or out of the seat. When using the iBert seat you can always see what your child is doing and you can make sure that your child is safe and comfortable at all times. The center of gravity in the iBert seat is closer to the center of the bike making it easier to control the bike as you ride. The seat sits higher on the bike and is smooth on the bottom so that even tall riders rarely brush the bottom of the seat with their knees and if they do they just glide along the smooth edges on the bottom. The iBert Safe-T seat is easy to install. The patented stinger assembly attaches to any bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches on the handle bar stem. The stinger system attaches to the bike in just two minutes and the seat can then be attached and detached from the stinger in 15 seconds. If you buy additional stinger assemblies the seat can be attached to multiple bikes. The iBert Safe-T seat is made in the U.S.A. with safety and quality as the main objectives. While the iBert Safe-T seat is designed to meet all 1625-00 standards, at this time ASTM 1625-00 is written for rear child carriers not front mounted seats. Sports reviews of iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle SeatCustomer Review: iFun for the rider and the passenger Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is EASILY one of the best purchases i've made over the past year. I really don't know why we don't see more of these available at stores and on the road because the iBert opens up A WHOLE NEW WORLD to children once they're riding shotgun.
The best selling points of this seat: 1. It's light, 2. it's just the right size - it's not bulky so you don't have to reach around the seat to grab the handle bars, 3. it doesn't interfere with your legs' natural range of motion (you don't have to stick your knees out to ride with this), 4. it's simple to mount.
Mounting the seat is a breeze, all you is 3/4" clearance on the bike stem in order to mount the seat. The anchor is bracketed with two hex-head bolts (all that you need to mount the seat is included) and once the anchor is attached to the stem, you slide the seat on and lock it in place. All of this literally takes about 3 minutes and anyone can do it. Next thing you know you're exploring the scenes with your little one. I can't think of a more enjoyable way to teach a baby/child about their surroundings. Worth every penny i spent on this seat!
Customer Review: Love it! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I'm a 5'9" single mom. I've had this seat for a month or so and we use it almost everyday. It took me about 5 minutes to install-- suuuuper easy since you don't need any tools and the directions are straigt forward. I have a 16 month old. He's tall and weighs about 30 pounds. Its easiest to put him in the seat, buckle him in and put the helmet on last. Tomorrow we're going to try a week of leaving the car in the garage, riding a couple miles to and from the trolley, and getting around town that way. Not sure if I will keep him in the seat to lift the bike onto the trolly or take him out and try to carry baby and bike onboard. I love that the seat doesn't change how the bike rides-- you don't feel like you have a little person on the handle bars. For me, the seat slightly changes how I have to position my long legs when climbing hills (we live in San Diego). I can't stand up and dig in on the uphill as much as I would like, but shifting gears works well enough. In a nutshell, we love it and I'm really happy with the purchase. This is the first item I've ever bought from Amazon.
Customer Review: Best baby seat out there Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
THis seat is exactly what I wanted. The baby is in front so I can see her and even have my arms around her. She can look around and see me, not just my back. It's perfectly comfortable for myself or my husband to ride around with her. Initially I thought I'd leave the baby driving to him because I was nervous but there's no reason to be with this seat. Worth the money for sure, it's actually on of the best baby products I've bought. THere are cheaper models out there but then your legs kind of need to bow out because the seat is in the way. Some people may not mind to get a cheaper seat but for me, this top of the line seat is perfect and worth every penny. It's very simple and sometimes less is more as is the case with this. My husband and myself and my 6 year old have already taken our baby on countless hours of fun rides because it's one of the only activites we can all do together. One added bonus is that the baby is always tired after a ride. (so are the rest of us!) THe whole family is enjoying this purchase tremendously so that makes this seat priceless.
Customer Review: Great bike seat! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have had the i-bert for about 2 years and have loved it. I really enjoy the interaction with my child as we ride and he has absolutely LOVED every minute in it. He has now maxed it out so we are in search mode again. My knees hit the seat slightly, but I am still able to ride comfortably. I'm 5'7" and have a trek. He can reach the gears and occasionally tries to help me shift. Having him in front does not affect the balance of my bike nearly as much as a rear mounted seat in fact I hardly notice at all except for the extra weight. Although I have never had an accident with him, I felt I could protect him if we were to go down. Ride defensibly and have an action plan if things start to go wrong. The only problems I had were as he began to max the seat and if he fell asleep. Then I would cradle him into my chest. I could still easily shift with my right hand, and keep up with the rest of the crew. We typically bike for 8 - 10 miles at a time. Looking forward to the next biking adventure. My son is 2.5 years, 38 inches tall, and 38 pounds. Maybe the Weehoo.
Customer Review: Sweet solution for families Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
My wife, who doesn't ride a bike frequently, had no problem adjusting to this setup. It is very stable. She is 5'8" and her bike allows her to pedal quite comfotably without hitting her knees on the seat. We ride together, but she likes having our 1-year old close, whereas normally she would prefer that I do any extra carrying or transporting, etc. when we do outdoor activities with the baby.
I have only 2 drawbacks with this seat:
1) There is no head support for baby, so when they fall asleep, their head is unsupported.
2) The "stinger", the metal piece that holds the seat to the bike, has to be removed with an allen wrench if you want to switch it to another bike. This is a VERY minor operation, but for long rides it would be nice to switch from one bike to another more easily. So far it looks like a 2nd stinger, also a good solution, would cost $27 shipped, which is steep to me, considering that $27 is about 33% of what the whole seat cost me (shipped). It would be great if a 2nd stinger were included with the seats.
