I read reviews & was a bit hesitant re smell. However, I ordered & am so glad. I'm only 5'4" but really appreciated the size--don't have to shift around so much between postures. I ordered burgundy, which is more of a muddy plum, & maybe the color dye has something to do with smell, cuz I don't find mine bad at all. It's just a tiny bit smelly with face to mat. But what does one expect with artificial materials? Only drawback is that it's more bulky due to size, and rolls to just short of 5" diameter, but the comfort is worth it. I've used for several months, & all is well. Buy & enjoy!Customer Review: No smell, no slippage, no problems.

I've been practicing yoga for over a year a few times a week. I researched several mats and settled on this one for the good reviews and low price. Its a fine mat. No smell as others have reported and if folds out just fine. My hands do not slip during down dog as others have reported. I was prepared to lay it out for a few days to rid the mat of the smell and I didn't notice a smell from day one. I bought a black one that is great in that it looks sleek all the time. The thickness is fabulous and the extra length is an bonus as well. For the money, who can beat it?Customer Review: Great Mat!

My husband and I use this mat for P90X and it is perfect for the workouts we do. I don't know much about yoga, so I can't comment on how this mat would work for for someone who does yoga regularly, but for P90X it does everything we need it to. It's not too "sticky" and it's not too "slippery".
It did have a strange smell to it when it first arrived. Like other posters suggested, I let it air out for a day or so before I used it and the smell is almost totally gone. I can still smell it when I roll or unroll the mat, but not during workouts.

I wanted a general exercise mat for some p90x, yoga, and some stretching and after examining my girlfriend's mat purchased at a local sports store or thereabouts, I went perusing Amazon.com to see what was out there. For the same price, I got a mat 50% thicker than hers for a few dollars less. When this mat arrived, the quality looked just as good and thickness was as advertised. I have used it briefly and it performs as intended... like an exercise mat. Not really sure what other reviews might complain about, as compared to similar products.Customer Review: Despite initial smell... it's a great mat for the price!

Mine had a rubbery smell too but I left it in the sun for a day or two and it went away completely.
The mat is nice and thick -- perfect for camel and other asanas that require you to be on your knees.
I ordered the slate blue and the color is a bit weird...not what I expected. But otherwise, it's a great mat especially for the price point.
Also, when you unroll it in class, the end will be a bit curled under... but I find that it flattens out in no time. I would highly recommend this product!
