Customer Review: Yaktrax Pro Cleats are a Godsend

I am a forty-year-old woman with disabling back and hip conditions, which often require that I walk awkwardly and very carefully, sometimes with a cane. These Yaktrax Pro Traction Cleats for Snow and Ice have been a godsend. Being a single parent of 2 active children in snowy State College, PA was not easy during the winter months in years past, but with these Yaktrax, I can easily and safely make my way from the front door to our car in the driveway, and get in and out of the car, and into stores, church, schools, etc., with complete surefootedness on snowy, slushy, or even somewhat icy pathways. And on my good days when I can straighten up and maintain my balance without leaning on my cane, I can even move about and clear snow and ice from the car windows and carry purchases, mail, etc., to and from the car and house without worrying about slipping and falling. I very highly recommend these Yaktrax Pro Cleats for anyone wanting to avoid slipping and falling in winter weather conditions, and especially for people who have mobility or balance issues. I have been able to be much more independent, more actively involved in activities, and less isolated than in previous winters, and have avoided any slipping in the winter conditions, and with Yaktrax on, have not slipped at all.

There are a few caveats I'd like to mention. I have not tried walking with Yaktrax Pro Cleats on areas of smooth, solid ice. I also have not slipped on any indoor surfaces, but I try to stay on Carpeted areas as much as possible with my Yaktrax on, as they are not meant for smooth, wet floors. Also, for me, because I have major difficulties with my back and my core is not super strong, putting the Yaktrax on and off my boots is quite challenging, so I put them on once and have left them on my boots since. I have another pair of boots I can use for rain or less slippery conditions, and I have carried these or another pair of shoes in my car to change into when I am safely inside my destination, if it might be easier or more comfortable to walk without wearing my boots with the attached Yaktrax indoors. But changing shoes, or a similar solution, is well worth the trouble in order to get out of the house and be more involved in society again.
