Sports reviews of Windmill Delta Stormproof LighterCustomer Review: Awesome lighter, really is waterproof Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I got this lighter with a lot of anticipation and wasn't let down. It performs well and one of my only complaints is that its flame burns so efficiently, it's almost invisible. Most importantly it is waterproof, and to test this I filled a bucket full of water and put the lighter in there for a day. When I took it out of the water it worked fine. However, because the rubberized body is not actually adhered to the lighter itself except for a screw at the bottom, I did find water between the lighter and the lighter body. But this is relatively easy to clean by simply removing the body screw and drying off the body. However, I did manage to drop it into my toilet accidentally, while I was doing some household cleaning. My heart sank and I was worried it would never light again. But as I took it out, I realized that there was not much that could actually go wrong with a lighter if dropped in water. I was right. After I had dried out all the water I could by blowing it out with compressed air, I lit the flame with another lighter, and the flame was not a torch but rather a wider, less intense, blue flame, probably because the flame was not ignited at the valve. Anyhow, after letting the flame burn for about 5 minutes, it had dried enough to light. I was overjoyed. So now I really love this lighter, and I know that no matter what, it really is waterproof.

I went through five different lighters trying to find a replacement for my discontinued Coleman lighter. I tried the Brunton Firestorm Stormproof, Colibri Firebird, and some other moderately priced and low end butane torch type lanterns (e.g. Penlinda). This is the only one that comes close to being a torch and a proper replacement for the Coleman.
After filling with Lucienne butane, it lit *immediately* with a strong torch flame. The flame held for as long as I held the trigger and there was no heat spillover at all to my thumb (a problem with the Firebird). The flame worked sideways, upside down and all other orientations which was important as I'm using it not only to start regular campfires but to do some minor ornamental welding.
Search around because the pricing varied widely on this lighter (up to $30 difference).
Customer Review: Best Darn Lighter Ever! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've tried a lot of lighters over the years -- from Zippos (cheap, reliable), to Colibris (nice designs, somewhat expensive), to Porsche Design (over-engineered, very pretty, very expensive, but unreliable) -- and this one tops them all!
Lights the first time, every time. Read the very clear and brief instructions on how to ignite this lighter. There's a slight trick to it.....but it's mastered in a click or two.
Lit just fine when stuck outside in gusty thunderstorm the other day! Surprised (and pleased) the heck out of me! And that's with rain and wind pelting down as we waited for a bus.
The fuel level "window" is a gem! This lighter tends to use butane very conservatively, too!
Couldn't be more pleased!
Customer Review: Works as advertised Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Three years ago I bought this lighter, and recently, the fire coil broke off, so I ordered another one. Then I realized the original was guaranteed for life, so I called Essential Gear, got a return number, and sent my broken lighter to them, even though I hadn't bought the original from them, a fact I told them. The new lighter arrived and worked great, and two weeks later, my old lighter arrived, fixed and at no cost. I use this lighter on the golf course in high winds, and never have a problem. With a lifetime guarantee, it just can't be beat, and I can't say enough about Essential Gear's great service.
Customer Review: Best lighter I ever owned Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Hard to fathom some of the negative reviews. I smoke a pipe and cigars -- big ones as well as mini cigarillos. I find this lighter handles it all well. It will light and stay lit in any wind conditions I've been in (haven't tried to light it in a hurricane or in a convertible going 100mph I must admit). If you ever struggled to get a standard lighter or even a cheapo torch to stay lit long enough to light a cigarette or cigar in a breeze, you won't be disappointed with this one. There's a little coil that glows orange and keeps the flow of butane lighted. I couldn't even blow the thing out when I tried.
