Sports reviews of Wenzel Insta-Bed Queen Raised Sure Grip Bottom with Built-in PumpCustomer Review: EASY TO USE, SPACE SAVING BARGAIN BED Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I used to believe in having a spare room with proper beds set up for visitors but living in Japan for many years, we saw that people are used to pulling out futons and sleeping on the floor. A necessity because of lack of space in the cities and also because of the tradition of doing most things on the floor (tatami). That didn't change our thinking as we have had the luxury of spare rooms but since we moved to San Francisco, we realised that we couldn't spare the extravagance of a permanent bed room nor even the space to house a fold up bed.
This was our first experience of an inflatable bed and not only was it incredibly comfortable but my retired parents who are sensitive to bad beds had no complaints (nor jet lag) at all from this bed. Best of all, the built in pump takes no time to inflate the bed (I think about 10 minutes) and similarly to deflate as the pump sucks the air right out of the bed. It folds up as it is meant to and goes back into the handy bag. We only had to top up the bed once for a few minutes during a 2 week period and even then, we didn't really need to. The air loss was minimal.
I had major reservations about subjecting to my parents who are in their 70's to such a bed but am absolutely delighted with this product. Well designed, well made and the best value item I bought in 2009. Well done, Wenzel!
Customer Review: Durable, awesome height, perfect for guests Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I bought this to accommodate my inlaws during what was supposed to be a 5 day stay. My 4 year old aerobed had sprung a leak so I did some research before purchasing this one. Specifically, I was looking for something the height of a normal bed so that my elderly inlaws didn't struggle to get out of bed (esp. w/ a bad shoulder). Their stay was almost three weeks & the bed held up find (coulda used a quick blow up the last 5 days, but I didn't flip the inflate switch). Height was as a normal bed. Grip on bottoms was helpful to stay in place. My children & dogs jumped around on it when my back was turned, but it held up. I've read some people thought it had a smell, and I hesitated as I've returned a few things to the store for bad smell, but after letting it air out a day in a room w/ open windows(straight out of the pkg it does smell like a shower curtain liner), it has NO smell (I'm pregnant, I can smell EVERYTHING). Now, w/ a big belly, I actually prefer this to our Sealy mattress as in the morning my back doesn't hurt at all. I think it was worth every penny, and living in HI I paid almost it's full price just in shipping, so that's saying something;)
Customer Review: Great alternative to a sofa bed Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
We've used aerobeds in the past, but have found the "bed" to be lacking in several respects. The bed is low to the floor and as a result it was difficult to get out of. Also, the bed did not retain its firmness and often had to be re-pumped to have a firm mattress. We didn't like the wires and the pumping unit around the mattress when it was inflated. We read the reviews for the Insta-bed by Wenzel and purchased it. We also purchased a king-size sheet set with deep 22 inch pockets. Absolutely necessary to cover the 22 inch mattress! We found the Insta-bed to be very comfortable(after the first night's use we used an "egg crate" to make the mattress top more comfortable) and easy to use. The pumping unit is built into the mattress so there are no wires after the Insta-bed has been pumped up. All that has to be done, after taking the unit out of the box, is plug it in and turn the dial to inflate and when it is no longer used do the same thing, but turn the dial to deflate. There's a place for the wires to go in the mattress, as well. We're now enjoying many good nights of sleeping when we're visiting.
Customer Review: Thought I was in my own bed! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
First of all let me start by saying there are tons of inflatable mattresses out there, ranging from $20 to over $300. When I started to look at it, why would I even consider spending over $100 for an air mattress to use on a vacation. Well, let me tell you, this was a great investment. We took this mattress up to a cottage. Last year I slept a week at this cottage on a leather couch and it was not fun. This year, I wanted something better to sleep on. The Wenzel Insta-Bed Queen was GREAT. It was very confortable. The top is covered with something, so your sheet are not laying on top of plastic and you get a better feel against your body. We slept on this for a week, and it held air very well. It was half way through the trip before I decided to plug it in again to add a little air. The dual chambers are pretty cool too because you can put air in the center or the sides of the bed depending on your sleep perference. I would recommend this to anyone. Its worth the extra cash for a good air mattress if its something you are going to need. Now I have an extra queen bed for visitors to the house.
Customer Review: Best in quality, Wenzel Insta-Bed Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Annually we rent a mountain cabin for several nights that require us to bring our own sleeping bags and mattress. We have used every air mattress on the market and they work well but they spring air leaks from the kids constant play on them. My recent purchase of the wenzel insta-bed queen raised sure grip bottom found the bed to be exceptional. My first impression of the bed was that the material was of strong and sturdy construction. The kids were all over it jumping up and down and it never loss any air as it remained firm and comfortable the whole 4 days at the cabin. My mattress took approx. 4 min. and 45 sec. to blow up but with the auto on/off switch this doesn't require any effort. The air filled mattress is very comfortable and found the feature of air adjustment to the top chamber section to be very good for your own comfort levels. The separate side chambers feature was also good as they helped the bed from collapsing when getting off from the bed. This air mattress definitely deserves a five star rating.
