Help your children win the neighborhood arms race with what is basically a snowball slingshot. (My precocious 8-year-old asked me if it would work with rocks; I responded, probably, and if I ever catch him using it with rocks, he'll never see it again! It would probably also work with small water balloons.) In my experience it can fling a snowball 10 or 20 yards with ease and considerable accuracy, without straining the rubber tubing; however, it does require a strong pull, which younger children may have some difficulty with.
The three snowball mold on top is quite useful for molding snowballs that will fit in the slingshot but is not a good place to store ready reloads because the recoil tends to pop out any snowballs left in it, even if you close the lid. The mold handle can be situated on either side, depending on the user's handedness or personal preference, by simply unscrewing it and switching it around. It comes with a nylon target that we haven't bothered to use (because it is so much more fun to fire snowballs at people).
