There are three rounded convex extrusions on the top, and the bottom is rounded, so there is no setting this into a standing up position like it's shown in the picture. So if you are planning on setting it down someplace, forget it, you can only lay it down. It seems like a small point when I write this, but as I had also bought another lighter planning on moving from disposables and expecting to have one in each room I expected to light up in, I found the difference noticeable.
The unique way it opens is cute, for about the first tens lights, and then it's like whatever.
Additionally the fact that the flame comes out at an angle from the lighter, instead up right out the top, makes it somehow not as comfortable as other lighters.
Beyond that, it does look and work in a way that gets the lighter attention, so if that is your goal, and you don't mind either going to extra trouble to lay it down or put up with a clacking sound as it falls to a laid down position, then this might be a winner for you.

My first impression opening the box was a pleasant suprise for the price of the unit. The lighter had an interesting futuristic look and felt hefty in the hand. Having the dual burners slide out when you depress the starter slide was a novel idea. The dual burners make an easy task of lighting even the largest ring guage cigar. I take nothng away from this unit by how it looks or feels while using it.
I did have to take away a couple of stars for functionality. The burners continually went out on a medium to medium high valve setting. The gas seemed to flow sporatically out of the burners until I turned the valve all the way to its maximum setting. Now the burners stay lit and I see no gas flow issues. The downside to using the max setting is it goes through gas like crazy. You will be lucky to light 4 cigars before running the tank dry and having to re-fill. I can confirm other reviews I have read about this lighter on how much fuel you go through.

Excellent product, but designed more for a pipe rather than cigarettes. The torch is huge and overpowering for a cigarette. It would be better described as a pipe or cigar lighter.Customer Review: Nice, while it lasted

This lighter only lasted 6 months. While it worked, it was very nice, although I didn't really like the flip out concept as much as I thought I would. Anyway, after about 6 months, it just stopped working. It didn't die out gradually or anything, I just picked it up one evening and it didn't work, and never worked again. I tried to re-fill it, I used a soft brush to brush off any dirt or whatever from the nozzle, but to no avail. During the 6 months I had re-filled it several times. Oh well. I guess the moral of the sory is find the cheapest cigar lighter you can and just expect to replace it twice a year.
