New from Swiss Army Brands.
The Victorinox 53935 SwissTool RS is an outstanding multi-tool from the original makers of the Swiss Army knife. With over 100 years experience, nobody does multi-tools better than Victorinox. The SwissTool RS (Rescue and Survival) is constructed of rugged stainless steel that will never rust.

Weighing only 10 ounces, this multi-tool measures a modest 4.5 inches when closed. All Victorinox SwissTools have OneStep access, which allows tools to be opened directly from the outside of the handle without opening the pliers, and a lock with a simple slide release to hold the tools securely in place.

The Victorinox SwissTool RS features: pliers; two-, three-, and five-millimeter screwdrivers; a wire stripper, bender, scraper, crimper, and cutter; bottle opener; large blade; scissors; wood saw; reamer; Phillips screwdriver; chisel and scraper; strong crate opener; can opener; nine-inch and 230-millimeter rulers; hard wire cutter; and lanyard hole. Made with individual springs to keep tools from clumping together, this Swiss multi-tool comes boxed in a keepsake tin with a silver lid, and includes a sturdy nylon belt pouch.

Sports reviews of Victorinox SwissTool RS

Customer Review: Quality outshines Leatherman
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought the Charge TTi from Amazon. Sent it back. Then I tried the Leatherman Wave and Surge from Target and returned both because the quality was really substandard. My brother has a Leatherman that is a few years old and it is a solid and well built tool, but recent changes in manufacturing have really reduced the quality of the Leatherman's. The new ones are definitely not your dad's leatherman. I ordered this Swiss Tool for $30 less than the Surge and I am totally impressed with the quality of it's fit and finish. The pliers have very little play in them and the finish on the blades is everything you would expect from Victorinox. The Leatherman has easy open tools and the clip point-one-handed operation blades, so I desperately wanted to be impressed by it. But, the Chinese provided parts of the Leatherman are roughly machined and appear to use substandard stainless steel. There was alot of play in the plyers and it just didn't have a solid feel to it. When I squeezed hard on the Leatherman plyers, they seemed to flex more than they should. However, the quality of the Swiss Tool leaves the Leatherman in the dust. When I pulled it out of the box I immediately noticed the weight and quality of the tool. It stinks I couldn't get both. With the addition of a few clip point blades and easier to open tools, the Swiss Tool would be pefect. Highly recommended!!

Customer Review: Nice tool
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I have had a couple of multitools over the years. My lasT was a SOG and I loved it. One day it was gone and after much searching turned up empty handed. I began searching for a replacement and did not want another SOG because I still believe that it will turn up. Everyboody has an opinion and this one is mine. The tool is great. With access to the tools with out opening is great. Locking into place not allowing one to do some wicked damage to yourself is great. And,the sharpness of the blades is great (SOG's greatest downfall is the blade that it came with is almost incapable of being truely sharp). A feature that I did not think would have much use was the pry tool. It will surprise you at how often it comes in handy (if the SOG had such a feature I would not have broken the file a long time ago). The lack of a file is the one downfall. If I were to make any changes to the design would be to replace the curved serrated blade with a file system. I have used it now for a short time, but almost daily. Anybody who carries a multitool will tell you that living with one is so much better and more usefull than going without. It has a great warranty and that pushed me over the top when picking the tool. DON'T GO WITH OUT!...

Customer Review: SwissTool RS is the real deal
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Manufactured in Switzerland, this fine multitool puts a major slap down on the Leatherman line which is fabricated mostly in China these days. It reminds me of the build and quality that used to exist in the Leatherman lineup. The tool has 26 features. The pliers are top notch. I recently used them to use as a leverage on a micro screwdriver to remove a screw that was solidly inplanted in a HP Mediasmart Server. It made short work of the whole ordeal, unlike the other poor moders around the world that have been stripping those screw heads left and right. Of course, I probably could have used just about any multitool for that job, but the SwissTool never slipped on that micro screwdriver and that was what counted. The build and quality of the Swisstool RS is second to none. It is solid stainless steel and feels like a tool that can get the job done in the tough spots. The tool comes with a thick nylon carrying case with a heavy duty snap closure. On top of that, you can't beat the "Limited Lifetime Warranty." Look at the reviews for the latest and greatest from Leatherman and compare, you will not go wrong with the SwissTool RS. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: It's a beast. I love it.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I've owned my SwissTool RS for 6 1/2 years, it's been camping, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, and it went backpacking around Europe for two weeks. Oh, AND we own an 80 year old house that needs a lot of work. Having owned other brands of multi-tool, and even many other Swiss Army Knives over the years, I have to say that the SwissTool stands out. First, you don't have to open the pliers to use the other tools. Second, all the tools lock. Third, the unlocking mechanism is SIMPLE. Fourth, the entire tool has the nicest finish, tightest joints, and highest overall construction quality of any multi-tool I've owned or even seen. Have I mentioned durability yet? I have ABUSED this tool almost every day for 6 1/2 years, and the only noticeable damage is the red painted "Victorinox" on the back is almost worn off. This thing has become my American Express Card, I don't leave home without it. My only advice if you're buying one: Wear a belt, this tool is HEAVY at almost 11oz.

Customer Review: Swiss quality
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This Christmas I gave multitool gifts and Swisstool RS was one of them. The others were a Leatherman Surge and Paladin Tools PT540 (electrician special manufactured by SOG).
Right after unpacking the Swistool won in terms of quality (or factory quality control). While the others needed some maintenance (lubrication right after unpacking of a sealed box ), Swisstool had no problems moving all the parts.
This is the quality I know from their utility knives. But in some ways it resembles the knives too much. The opening mechanism on the tools, the size of the blades. I have an european version of Trekker with most of the tools RS has and handles better.
I bought this for my brother to carry in the car, therefore the RS version. Now I'd do it differently, I'd get a normal Swisstool or the one with bits for added utility. And then get a specialized rescue tool, its more handy as a knife and more capable in its special use.
