Description of Victorinox Swiss Army Tinker and Classic Knife ComboThe Swiss Army Tinker and Swiss Army Classic SD by Victorinox are paired in this limited-edition gift set. The Classic is perfect for your key chain, while the Tinker is ideal for your garage or glove box, keeping you well prepared for whatever comes your way. Swiss Army's most popular knife, the Classic SD, is combined with the 91mm Tinker to create a great set of Swiss Army knives that is perfect for anyone. The Tinker offers six tools and 12 features including a large blade, small blade, Phillips screwdriver, can opener, small screwdriver for Phillips screws, bottle opener, large screwdriver, wire stripper, reamer, key ring, tweezers, and toothpick. The Classic SD measures just 2-1/4 inches long--less than a pack of gum--and comes equipped with a blade, nail file, screwdriver, scissors, key ring, tweezers, and toothpick. About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.
Sports reviews of Victorinox Swiss Army Tinker and Classic Knife ComboCustomer Review: dorm life Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
When everyone thinks of army knives they think of FIXITALL dudes and outdoorsy traveling people. Well, its not only these types that needs tools. The swiss army knife comes in so handy when you've moved out on your own but you haven't started to accumulate years of junk for your future supposed family.
enter: college. tightening screws on a fan, cutting open tough packaging, replacing swatch batteries, and yes... even opening a bottle of beer. its a bunch of tools you need in life in a tiny little package. i'm not carrying it everywhere but i leave it on a hook with a mini flashlight and there's my workbox: the swiss army tinker and a mini maglite. The only thing i don't see my self using is a wire stripper, but that might come in handy for engineering majors. This is probably the only tool you need until you finally settle down.
Customer Review: Reliable Quality Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is about the 15th Victorinox knife I've bought. I (we) still have them all and they are in fine shape. (I have a wife an four kids, hence the large number of knives of various models.) I like to purchase Victorinox knives because I can count on the quality. I've tried buying other brands with very mixed results. Even my oldest Victorinox is still in great shape after 26 years. They come sharp and hold an edge well even though they are stainless steel as opposed to high carbon steel. The Super Tinker, Tinker, and Classic are my three favorite models. The kids get a Tinker when they start scouts and they get a Super Tinker when they get their Eagle rank (of Silver Award in the case of my Girl Scout).
Customer Review: Excellent Value and Superb Quality Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I received new quality knives, in the original packaging, and as described by Amazon. The Swiss Army Tinker sacrifices a corkscrew for a phillips screwdriver and is therefore better suited for opening battery operated toys and games around the house than it is for opening a bottle of merlot. The Classic is a small knife that is great for carrying with your keys; the scissors are sharp and useful. This package is an extremely good value through amazon, as prices are much higher for this package in retail stores. Victorinox manufactures pocket knives in various combinations. I recommend researching their knives on [...] before making a final decision as to which knife is best suited for your pocket.
Customer Review: Big Hit at Christmas! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I bought 2 of these Swiss Army Classic Tinker + Classic Knife combo sets as Christmas presents for my Dad & my brother. The packaging (blister packs made to hang on a wall peg) made boxing/wrapping a bit tedious but it was worth it. I priced these at my local hardware store & Amazon's price gave me a >50% discount not to mention the free shipping. Had a great time at Christmas watching those guys open up the knives & play with the all the gadgets. I have both of these knives myself almost 30 years & except for the small blade on the Tinker (the tip broke off) both of them are still going strong. You can't lose with this great, well-crafted inexpensive knife set. Great deal from Amazon!
Customer Review: Great knife Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is a great knife., I own several Victorinox Swiss Aarmy Knives, and so far this is one of the best. cause is small, and fits your pocket really well, and you dont even remember its there. One of the things I wish it have as the climber model is the Scissors, they are so helpful, and almost a daily tool. But anyway, it is handy even it dont have the scissors., the swiss army knife, happens to be very handy, and it will become your companion for life. Besides it comes with a Classic knife, which is so small, and have scissors, and a nail file. This is a great set of pocket knives.
