About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Customer Review: Great EDC pocket knife
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This may be the closest thing to the best all-around pocket knife I've seen. I've used every tool on it and they all work as promised. The blade can be sharpened to where it will shave. The knife is compact, slim, and inobtrusive. I am sold on Victoinox tools!

Customer Review: classy inexpensive gift
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Ordered one each for some male co-workers. They loved the knifes. Some reported even the women at home wanted to take the gift for their own. Build quality, size, heft, functionallity and reputation all combine to make a durable and desirable gift knife.

Customer Review: great knife
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This is a fine little pocket knife, not overstuffed with lots of useless gadgets, but with basic good tools. I use the knife and screw driver regularly on my job and they are great. Highly recommended for quality and value.

Customer Review: best knife I own
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

best pocketknife I own...holds edge well...steel not so hard that its hard to sharpen. has a little heft to it so it FEELS quality. The only thing I'd like is instead of a punch I'd like a phillips screwdriver.
