About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.

Sports reviews of Victorinox Swiss Army Ranger Pocket Knife

Customer Review: Its a Swiss Army Knife - of course its great.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Probably the 5th or 6th I've bought. They always work just fine, are strong and reliable. The only problem is selecting the right model for what I do. The answer to this is to buy a couple of different ones. This one can do both metal and wood cutting, so it really fits the bill for me.

Customer Review: Best $15 I ever spent on a knife
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

During the holidays there was a Swiss Army knife special so I picked up this one and another for under $35 and couldn't be happier.

They are still well built and you won't be disappointed, the quality is as good as it was 20 years ago which most knife makers can't live up to.

Customer Review: Swiss Army Knife
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought the Army Ranger Pocket Knife for graduation gifts for some young men we know. The Ranger has a useful variety of assessories without being too heavy or bulky. The Victorinox brand is the original and best! This knife is something to use forever or pass on to a son or daughter, a great heirloom.

Customer Review: One neat little knife
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This is a great little knife. At the low price of $3.00, you can't ask for more. I purchased this as a stocking stuffer for my husband at Christmas and he absolutely loves it. It has lots of cool little tools that one might need in a pinch. I should have bought one to keep in my purse for emergencies!

Customer Review: Very useful and well worth the price.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Got this during the customer's pick sale on Amazon in December. This is well worth the price even for retail. It includes the standard issue of tools that make everyday living easy and is useful during camping trips. Just make sure to not hurt yourself while taking out the tools from the pocket knife.
