Description of Victorinox Swiss Army Huntsman Pocket Knife (Red)

In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener started his cutlery factory in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. In 1897, he crafted the Victorinox Original Swiss Army Knife. Since that time, the Elsener family has continued to craft tools in the Victorinox tradition of in genius design, durability, and quality. This is why all Victorinox multi-tools, made of first class stainless steel, are guaranteed a lifetime against defects in material and workmanship. Remember, if it doesn't say Victorinox, it's not the Original Swiss Army Knife.
From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army knife a century ago comes this complete set of tools for campers, hikers, hunters, fishers, and other outdoor lovers--all neatly contained inside a single implement that measures just 3-1/2 inches long. Sheathed in the famous Swiss Army red plastic, the Huntsman pocket knife is a toolbox small enough to fit into a pocket. (It also comes with a key ring.) A valued companion, this pocket knife contains 14 stainless-steel tools and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. The tools include a large knife blade, small knife blade, can opener, small screwdriver, bottle opener, large screwdriver, reamer, sewing eye, plastic toothpick, tweezers, corkscrew, scissors, hook, and wood saw. --Fred Brack
From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army Knife more than a century ago comes the Huntsman, a complete set of tools for hunters, boy scouts, campers, and just about all other outdoor enthusiasts. Measuring just 3-1/2 inches long, the Huntsman is stylishly cased in the familiar red housing and is embossed with a Victorinox logo. More importantly, the Huntsman contains 14 stainless-steel tools appropriate for just about any occasion, including a large blade, a small blade, a can opener with a small screwdriver, a bottle opener with a large screwdriver and a wire stripper, and a wood saw. And that's just the beginning, as the multitool also includes a reamer with a sewing eye, a small set of scissors, a corkscrew, a hook, a toothpick, tweezers, and a key ring. In short, it's a terrific accessory for outdoorsmen who don't have the room to bring along a bunch of separate tools.

As with all Victorinox items, the Huntsman is made to exacting standards, with dozens of individual parts and hundreds of steps going into its construction. Victorinox attends to every detail, from selecting the finest materials to performing the final inspection. In addition, each individual tool has been hardened in a different way to stand up to its designated use. Outfitted with a plastic housing, the Huntsman carries a lifetime warranty.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Sports reviews of Victorinox Swiss Army Huntsman Pocket Knife (Red)

Customer Review: Wonderful Knife!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This is my favorite swiss army knife because it has everything you need without the weight. Its perfect to keep in your pocket or put in the glove box of your car. The only negative thing I can say about this knife is that there are no locking blades. Besides that, its a perfect buy. Nothing will rust, and the metal used is very high stainless quality. You cant wash swiss army knives in the dishwasher anymore because they dont use the same glue to bind the plastic to the metal, if you do the plastic will pop off. I suggest running the knife under cold water. Compared to any leatherman knife this is a better buy. I own the wave, and honestly this is a higher quality knife, theres no way it will fall apart!

Customer Review: Swiss Army Huntsman
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

In the early 90's I lost my apartment and became homeless. Not to fear, I put together basic camping gear including a Victorinox Swiss Army Camping Knife. For over a year of brutal street living, my Swiss Army Knife did many chores from sawing kindling to picking ticks off me. The "Huntsman" is basically the same knife with the addition of scissors. You never know just how handy one of these are unless the need arises. Now I have several different Victorinox Knives around, from the small "Classic" to the large survival "Soldier". I strongly recommend you have a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife nearby, because they're worth their weight in gold when they're needed.

Customer Review: Excellent Knife
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This is a high quality knife and pretty much exactly what you'd expect. It's got all the basic tools you might need (and some extras). Unless you just have enormous pockets or live a life where you'd need all the various tools on this knife all the time, you're probably not going to want to carry this around with you all the time. But it's still great for all those random oddjobs that require a specialized tool. I mainly use the knife (open packaging and letters), the scissors, can and bottle opener (those fancy bottles of beer), and the corkscrew. As a college student, it's especially handy because I simply don't have standalone version of those tools.

Customer Review: takes a beating and just keeps on going
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This model Swiss Army knife is perhapes the most versital. Just the right number of tools in a fairly compact package. My father has carried one for more than 30 years and it just now starting to show signs of wear. He's carried it from job site to camp site and everywhere inbetween. Dishing out all the use and abuse it'll take along the way. That lifetime of use, without brakeage or malfuntion is the chief reason why I carry one now. If your looking to buy a Swiss Army knife for yourself or as a gift, this is the one, hands down.

Customer Review: Best of the large Swiss Army knives
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This knife is my favorite of all the Victorinox army knives. It has the most useful tools, basic blades, the corkscrew, the sizzors, the awl (with hole for sewing). You can get the little eye glass screw driver and stow it in the corkscrew. The other larger knives IMO are too bulky and have tools which really aren't up to any major hard work. Pruning knives for trees, fish scalers, magnifiing glasses etc. for instance. So if you are going swiss army this is the best of the bunch. Price/size/utility, its a good deal.
