This is why all Victorinox multi-tools, made of first class stainless steel, are guaranteed a lifetime against defects in material and workmanship. REMEMBER, If it doesn't say Victorinox, it's not the Original Swiss Army Knife.

The 3-1/2-inch-long knife holds 17 tools in its traditional, red plastic casing. They include: large and small knife blades; a can opener with 3mm screwdriver; a bottle cap lifter with 6mm screwdriver and a wire stripper; scissors; a reamer with sewing eye; a Phillips screwdriver; pliers with a wire cutter/crimper; a multi-purpose hook; tweezers; a toothpick; and a key ring. All blades and tools are made of first-class, stainless steel (except for the plastic toothpick). From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army Knife a century ago comes the Deluxe Tinker, a complete set of tools for campers, hikers, boy scouts, and just about everyone else. Measuring 3-1/2 inches long, the Deluxe Tinker is stylishly cased in a timeless red housing with the familiar Victorinox logo on the side. More importantly, the unit contains 16 stainless-steel and plastic tools appropriate for just about any occasion. The standard tools include a large blade, a small blade, a can opener with a small screwdriver, a bottle opener with a large screwdriver and wire stripper, and a small set of scissors. And that's just the beginning, as the Deluxe Tinker also offers mini pliers with a wire cutter, a reamer with a sewing eye, a Phillips screwdriver, a hook, a toothpick, tweezers, and a key ring. In short, there's no better accessory for camping, hunting, and fishing trips, along with general around-the-house tasks.

As with all Victorinox items, the Deluxe Tinker is made to exacting standards, with dozens of individual parts and hundreds of steps going into its construction. Victorinox attends to every detail, from selecting the finest materials to performing the final inspection. In addition, each individual tool has been hardened in a different way to stand up to its designated use. Outfitted with a plastic housing, the Deluxe Tinker carries a lifetime warranty.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Sports reviews of Victorinox Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker, Red

Customer Review: Great Pocket Tool
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Since purchasing my first Victorinox knife last year, I've become a fan. The fit and finish on these is excellent, and they are durable, useful tools. The Deluxe Tinker has a very useful tool set, and is still easily pocketable. The only thing that I'd change on it, would be the addition of "Plus" scales(for the pen), and I prefer the in line Phillip screwdriver on my Explorer (as opposed to the Phillips on the reverse of the Deluxe Tinker). Still, the Deluxe Tinker is hard to beat if you're looking for a useful pocket tool that doesn't cause your pants to droop. I'd much rather carry the Deluxe Tinker than any of my regular pliers based multi-tools. Highly recommend.

Customer Review: Big Tinker
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I've carried the standard Victorinox Tinker as my preferred pocket knife for years. It has filled the role of fix-it tool and all-around useful knife on many occasions. But, I lost it! So, I ordered the Deluxe model. The Deluxe Tinker has all the tools of the Tinker, plus scissors, pliers, and hook. Also, the Deluxe model is notably larger than the Tinker and is more noticable in my pocket. After ordering the Deluxe, my wife "found" my old Tinker in a pocket of my jeans. So, I'm still carrying the Tinker, but I'm looking at the Deluxe as its successor one day. The Deluxe is definitely a "deluxe" Victorinox knife, well worth serious consideration for a handyman.

Customer Review: Victorinox Deluxe Tinker

I've used SAK's since I was a child and I give them as gifts when ever I can. This model is the most functional of all of them. It is easy to carry, has all of the primary tools you will use, and it functions well in most situations. If you don't mind carrying a belt pouch knife, the Swiss Champ XLT is the ultimate of the breed but can be over the top for most people. This one carries well and covers a broad range of uses. The knife has an excellent warrenty and the spare parts and user replacable items are readily available. SAK even has a version called "My First Swiss Army Knife" for youngsters just learning how to carry and use a working knife.

Customer Review: Everything I ever wanted
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Love this knife, but I am partial to the Swiss Army ones. Love the pliers, scissors, screwdrivers, blades, and especially the fact that it doesn't have a useless and annoying cork screw on it. The Phillips head is not as handy, the hook is useless, the awl is nice if you need it. The addition of the pliers makes the knife thicker, but it still feels comfortable in my hand, and isn't so thick that it is s burden in my pocket.

I don't know how many things I have fixed, tinkered with, or how many splinters I have removed with these tools. Why would anyone want to carry a "regular" pocket knife when these exist and are so well made.

Customer Review: Truly a "must have"
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I teach sculpture at a midwestern university. On the first day of class I tell students how important it is to carry a Victorinox Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker knife. I have carried one all of my professional life (35 years) and it is simply the most useful possession I own. It does things that are well beyond it's design intentions and when it breaks, the company stands behind it even if the fault was mine. I cannot recomment the Deluxe Tinker strongly enough. I feel naked without it, especially when I have to fly somewhere. How can I fix the plane if it breaks if I don't have my favorite tools!
