Customer Review: Victorinox Deluxe Tinker - in my pocket for 15+ years

This is truly a "don't leave home without it" tool. I have used the Deluxe Tinker every day since I've had it for *something* or other; I was heartbroken when I lost my old one, even though the plastic covering had cracked and would no longer hold the toothpick or tweezers securely. (Perhaps it lost itself -- trying to send me a message?) The knife was originally a Father's Day gift, and I think of my son giving it to me every time I use it.
Between the screwdrivers, scissors, pliers, tweezers, and awl, there isn't much you can't do with this knife. I keep the small blade razor-sharp for emergencies, and use the big blade for every-day tasks, occasionally having to carve copper, aluminum or other abusive materials. The pliers can cut fairly large gauge wire with the notch at the base of the jaws, and using a knife to strip wire is almost as good as having 'real' wire strippers (if you're careful). I even used the knife to 'jump' a discharged AA cell (for a microphone) from a 9V battery once.
The only thing I'd change on this fine knife is the parcel hook - some type of a saw would be more useful.
(I've though about grinding saw teeth into the back of the hook. However, believe it or not, I've actually used the parcel hook to carry, well..., parcels [string/wire-wrapped packages] on occasion.)
HIGHLY recommended for any tinkerer, especially anyone who is used to carrying a pocket knife.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army.
