The Swiss Army Climber II Knife is a compact knife with a selection of more than 10 useful tools. Precision crafted in Switzerland, this knife is constructed with a nylon handle, and 100-percent stainless-steel components that will hold their edge and last you for years. The Climber II weighs a lightweight 3.55 ounces and measures 3.58 inches when closed. Features include: large and small blades, two standard screwdrivers, bottle and can openers, a corkscrew, a wire stripper, scissors, key ring, reamer, and parcel hook. Tweezers and a toothpick pull out of the ends of the Climber II. Ideal for your glove box, utility drawer, or taking along for weekend trips at the cabin. About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.
Sports reviews of Victorinox Swiss Army Climber II Pocket KnifeCustomer Review: Very Pleased Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Victorinox is legendary knife maker and a brand name you can trust for any quality blade you need from Swiss army knives to kitchen cutlery. I picked this knife because I'm a fan of this maker, and also because it has everything I want in it. I take this thing out foraging all the time, and the blades are sharp and cut the plants I need well. Even the scissors have some good torque to them.
I can even use the hook for a little extra reach to grab a branch through a bramble or something.
All in all, good price, great brand, awesome knife. Definately worth a buy.
Customer Review: It doesn't have a lot of tools, but has most of the essentials Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Legendary quality, it can be abused. Any Victorinox Model II knives are cased with different materials, which are not as pretty as the shinny red model, if it matters to you, you may want to consider the original model.
This knife has the minimum set of usable tools. I think it has the best feature set among Victorinox swiss army knifes in the same size, though some might argue the Tinker is better. With its light weight and low price, you won't remember having it in your pocket; even if you do forget, it doesn't cost that much to replace.
Customer Review: Good, Compact Knife Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I never know when I will need a pocket knife, so, I carry this with me all the time. The blades stay sharp for a long time, and it is small enough that it fits into my pocket without any bulkiness. It is strong and durable, and can do almost anything you would need to do with any small utensil. It is especially useful when removing the tough plastic packaging that is used on a lot of items that you buy.
I purchased 2 of these knives, in case I lose the first one, which I am known to do on occasion.
A very good product!
Customer Review: A great gift! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Victorinox makes great swiss knives. My humble opinion is that for a knife to balance functionality and practicality (what's the point of having a knife with 150 different functions- you can't carry it comfortably in your pocket, let alone comfortably grip the thing to actually use it), it must have 1 blade, a can opener, a bottle opener, a corkscrew and scissors. The tweezers are a nice thing to have as well. This "Climber II" fits the bill (with a few extras too), and at $13.99, I bought a bunch of them to have on hand for gifts.
Customer Review: Where True Swiss Army Knives begin. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
The climber IMO is where serious SAK's begin. The tool that sets the Climber apart from it less expensive brethren, is the scissors. It is strong enough to trim fingernails, yet delicate and precise enough to cut lightweight paper precisly. When using any of the tools, you can feel the precision built into each functional tool.
I have other Victorinox SAK's, but the usefullness, combined with the small size and light weight, make the Climber the one I reach for 95% of the time.
