I purchased this bar to use as part of the P90X workout. I didn't realize that it was made to be screwed into a wood framed door. I live in an apartment complex with metal framed doors. However, because of the rubber ends on the bar I simply put up the bar without screwing in the supports to the door. I am 120lbs and it has held just fine thus far :) Additionally, the grips on the bar were too far apart and I was able to easily move one of the grips so that the distance between them was right for me. Anyone that wrote a bad review about this item was missing a few brian cells.
Not safe?
No, not installed properly.
I use it everyday (135lbs) and my roomate that is 240 lbs uses it as well. (Might want to try screwing it tighter, or making sure it's tightened before you use it -- common sense)
And yes, the hand grips ARE moveable on the bar.
I bought this item for 15 dollars and have gotten my money out of it ten fold..
Plus, I love showing off my guns!

The chin-up bar is perfect. You screw in the placeholders into the door frame, then tighten the bar to fit within the frame and it works great! I'm about 150 lbs. so it works really well for me, but I'd be cautious for a heavier person. But not an anti-recommendation for a heavier person, just be weary. But great bar overall, everything is adjustable and all you want in a pull up bar! Get it!Customer Review: Great gift

My husband asked for a chin-up bar for Christmas so he was happy to get this. It has been great. He put it on the closet door and was exercising nightly for a while. He got results quickly. Even his family noticed a difference. I was a bit skeptical about this bar, as I've seen some flimsy ones, but I even had my 250lb roommate hang from it and it held strong. It took me about 15 minutes from unpacking to having it completely installed. The instructions for installing left something to be desired, but the pieces themselves were easy and I figured it out with only a little pondering.
