Sports reviews of Valeo AW10 10-Pound Adjustable Ankle / Wrist Weights

Customer Review: Not the most comfortable for me.
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

These were fairly cheap for 5 lb. (each) weights, but I don't find them too comfortable. I have thin bony legs and when I put these weights on, they hit a pressure point at the top of my foot, which can be very painful. I'm sure this could be remedied by wearing them over thick pants (I don't prefer to do that) or some other method of padding. People of other builds will no doubt have different experiences They're quite bulky - I don't know if you can get 5lb weights that aren't - so I can't wear them surreptitiously under my pants when I go out (like I can with my 2.5lb weights).

Another annoyance is the dual velcro straps - which are very tough and won't come undone but are actually hard to to pull off, and often get tangled up in each other.

I just wish these were more comfortable to wear. When I'm in the mood I will put them on, but more often I wear my 2.5 pounders instead, even though those feel positively light in comparison.

I have never tried using them as wrist weights.

When it comes down to it these are for strengthening your legs, not making your legs comfortable. I think they would be nicer for people with thicker legs, and the velcro straps are just an annoyance, not a reason to avoid buying. They aren't luxury and there may be better 5lb ankle weights out there, but these are selling for a decent price.

Customer Review: For small women these will be ankle only
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

Foolishly I had hoped to use these as both wrist and ankle weights. I'm 5'5 and about 110lbs, I had hoped to add some muscle tone by slapping these on while doing the housekeeping in the few free minutes of my day (multitasking was the plan - workout while vaccuming). The reality is that these work perfectly on my ankles provided I keep my shoes on. They are far better then my old set that had metal inserts and tore up the tops of my feet if I didn't wear my boots. These don't tear up the tops of my feet, but they certainly aren't comfortable without my shoes on.

As far as using them on my wrists - they are entirely too large for me to use and do anything other then lifting weights. Their sheer bulk prevents my being able to do anything requiring dexterity while wearing them. They also slide up and down my toothpick arms which I assume will eventually cause blisters.

In the end these are perfect for working my legs but for those of you are small like me you will want to look for a different alternative for your arms. Still these are among the best ankle weights I have come across in a long time.

Customer Review: A little awkward on the wrists, but very useful weights.
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

These are a pair of 5 pound weights, for a total of 10 pounds. The advertising for this product may not be clear, so i thought i'd say that from the start.

I use these as wrist weights, because i have ten pound ankle weights already. As wrist weights, they are a little awkward to wear. Though they are advertised as "Ankle/Wrist" weights, they are clearly designed with the ankles in mind. I am 5'10", with 7.5 inch wrists (if you put a tape measure around my wrists), and it is difficult for me to keep the weights from moving around or slipping down to my forearms.

That said, the slipping does not take away from my weighted workouts (i use them for boxing). If you are worried about the weights moving around on your wrists, i would say avoid these weights, and buy weights with a thumb hole for better stability. Otherwise, they are among the best for their price, and you will enjoy your workouts with them.

Customer Review: Highly functional for the price
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought these to use with my Brazil Butt Lift workout. Overall, these work well. I like that the weights can be added or subtracted. My last pair of ankle weights did not offer this feature. One thing to point out, the ability to add/remove weight makes these weights a bit bulkier than others because the weight is divided into five sections. My last pair were not bulky because the weight was evenly spread throughout the ankle portion.

I do have two compaints. 1) These are five pounds max each. The description can mislead the buyer. 2) I had a hard time with the individual weight packets. It was hard for me to take them out and put them in the little pockets. My hands are small. I am sure that someone with larger fingers/hands would have more difficulty. It can be done, it's just not an easy task.

Oveall these are highly functional for the price.

Customer Review: Well-made product
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought these to add some additional calorie burning to my brisk walks. At first I was not happy with how bulky they are, but after using them several times, I'm content now. They do the job, and I can add weight if I need to (starting out with 2 lbs per ankle). The velcro is high quality, once you have these fastened on, they ain't going no-where! I bought these to replace some old ankle weights where the buckle was digging into my ankles, no matter how I tried to adjust them (Whiteley ankle weights). These Valeos are great, no digging into my ankle bones while walking, as long as I take a little care in how I put them on initially, but even if I don't, they stay pretty comfy for an hour's walk. They are bulky, but after reading reviews on other similar (less-bulky, nicer looking ankle weights) products about velcro not staying fastened and other issues, I'm happy with these.
