The Good:
I've used this timer in a couple of tournaments at my fencing club, and it has so far performed quite well. The loud beeping when it reaches zero is just what I need in the loud environment of a tournament. No more worrying about keeping an eye on the action and an eye on the time as well. I hate having to split my attention like that. The small beeps when you press the buttons is welcome too. It's nice to know something is happening without having to make visual confirmation.
The large buttons are easy to manipulate, allowing for quick resets between the different time periods of 1 and 3 minutes. I haven't really had any trouble with faulty buttons as I did with my last set of cheap timers.
The numbers are large and easy to read. If you can't see these numbers clearly, you have no business being on the strip.
I like having a countdown timer. It's perfect for a fencing ref.
The small lanyard loop on the back of the timer will make it even more useful when I find lanyards long enough to accommodate some hand gestures. I don't want anyone dropping these things, so a loop around the neck is very handy and necessary.
The sort of bad:
It might be more useful to have the start/stop on the left side since I hold it in my left hand while reffing. It's a bit of a reach to hit the start/stop when the timer is sitting in my palm, but I can manage it. I am right-handed, so I need my pencil/pen in my right hand in order to write the score.
The timer is slightly larger than fits comfortably in most people's hands. It's fine in my hands because I have unusually large ones.
Durability:
I'll have to wait before I know the answer to this question. All I can say is that I'm hoping they last longer than the cheap junk I bought before.

I like the Ultrak timer a lot. I am a teacher at a school where our schedule changes every day. It is great to have the large LCD panel in front of my desk, so that I can easily see exactly how much time I have left in a period. The timer is easy to use and operate. The one feature that would be nice to have would be the abiilty to reset the time without cycling through 99 minutes or 60 seconds. If the Ultrak had a memory for 3-5 set times, it would make the device perfect.Customer Review: Some Dimensional Information Would Be Helpful

1. The product works pretty much as advertised. I wish that vendor had provided some information as to actual size of item as "Jumbo" doesn't mean much. For anyone considering this item the actual dimensions are 0 ft.-3-1/4 in. x 0 Ft. 2-3/4 in. x approx. 0 ft. 0-3/4 inches deep including magnetic clip. I'm keeping this as a backup but will probably never use it. There are three annoying things that prevent me from using this as my regular countdown timer.
1) There is no HOUR button. To set the time for 60min you have to cycle through the minutes from 0 to 60.
2) When setting the time, each button press or minute advancement gives you a loud beep.
3) When the time has count down to zero, it beeps but does not stop. You have to rush to it and physically press a button to stop the beeps.
4) No volume adjustment for the alarm.
Pros:
1. Large and easy to read numbers
2. If you let it time out to zero it will remember the starting time for next time.
