Sports reviews of UTG Deluxe Ergonomic Foregrip, BlackCustomer Review: Great Buy, No Downside (Yet) Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This grip is well constructed and has a simple mounting procedure. It seems large in diameter at first but it feels quite comfortable to both my small hands and those of my 12-year-old son in actual use. Someone mentioned the problem of putting the piece into a case and, yes, something must come off the rifle when placing it into the single-rifle case provided by the manufacturer. Since I'm using two different styles of sight I'm going to just leave both the ACOG clone and the carry handle w/holo sight off and leave the foregrip attached while it's in that case. My larger cases would not have this problem.
I can see that you would probably want to be careful putting the handle on since you are screwing a nub up into the Picatinny rail. This is why I'd rather just leave it on, continually screwing it on might increase the chances of damaging the nub (which may be plastic) while tightening it into the aluminum rail. Hot tip: get a shotgun choke wrench and keep it on your keychain - it's perfect to use as a "screwdriver" to add/remove Picatinny accessories and it's always with you (most screwdrivers are too narrow to use for this). Also keep in mind that if you want to use this you'll need to attach a lower rail which would involve borrowing, or buying, a delta-ring wrench to remove the existing plastic hand grip for rail attachment. I bought the ProMag wrench here on Amazon.
Lightweight and utilitarian, if you've never used a vertical foregrip, this one would be a terrific and cheap way to find out if the concept suits you. I think you'll like it, the increased level of comfort and fun seems to be quite amazing for most people.
I hope this helps!
Customer Review: Well built, well shaped, cheap price! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Usually you get what you pay for. But there are a few exceptions... This is one of them. It was 1/7 the price of the Army issue KAC piece when I got it. I needed a grip, and I thought a bigger one than the KAC would be warranted. The price was such that if it was junk, I could part with it and shed no tears.
The shape is similar to the Surefire weapon grip light (the expensive one). It is large and comfortable, and it is easy to control recoil on larger caliber weapons (.50 beowulf, .308, etc.) as well as provide a strong, confident grip on the M4. The sides of the grip are cutout (and come with panels for non-use) so that light or laser switches can be attached in a somewhat recessed and more natural fashion. The grip also conceals a tubular waterproof compartment that holds exactly three litium 3V batteries (or whatever you want), complete with a battery compartment spring, in order to stabilize the batteries under pressure and prevent noise. The plastic seems tough. Tough enough to stand up to US Infantry use... Your mileage may vary.
All in all, well built, well designed, and quite useful. I like mine, and if I ever need another vert. grip, this is the one I will get.
Customer Review: Excellent value for the money. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Ive been a big fan of UTG when it comes to rails and grips. They make a fine product that doesnt feel cheap. I bought this for my Saiga-12 conversion, and placed it on my quad rail setup with no problems. Very firm. A nice size and the finger grooves help with control. It attaches to the rail by adjusting a screw coming from underneath. I thought this would be weaker then what I normally use but it attached very nicely. My entire forend is UTG from the quadrail, to the rail covers and now the vertical grip. I highly recommend this to anyone who doesnt want to spend alot of money but doesnt want a piece of cheap junk. I used to have the UTG adjustable grip on my forend, but my knuckle kept hitting the adjustment button. This replacement feels much better. I know some people have had problems with UTG products before, but Ive never had any problems with rails and grips, like I said above. Im so confident with them, I actually LOOK fro UTG products when doing a build. Do yourself a favor, get a great product, and save some money at the same time.
Customer Review: Better Than Expected Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I figured even though it is $10, which leaves me skeptical, I decided to try it out. UTG has never let me down (got a LOT of UTG weapon accessories for my real guns, mind you, not airsoft). I must say, this item surpassed my expectations. It's sturdy and quite outstanding both in looks and function on my Black Beauty, that is my Mossberg 500. Here's a breakdown of the item:
Pros: Comfortable, price, pressure switch channels, durability, storage compartment
Cons: The way it attaches to the rail. It doesn't use the screw to run the channel. The battery compartment has a protrusion that catches the rail. It doesn't affect my rating, though, because it still holds very tight.
Overall, I am quite pleased and functionality is superb. Looks outstanding as well. If it holds up to my shotgun, you can buy in ease, knowing this sucker will stand up.
Customer Review: Simple install, solid feel, + extras Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
First one owned and I'm surprised how I didn't have to bolt it on, though it came with an allen bolt to line it up. Though it isn't needed. You peep through the hole to see where the rail space is. I usually screw in the mount til I can feel it bump between each space. It is solid. Techno-plastics are the future. It has storage for batteries and pressure pads for lights and/or lasers. I don't use those features, but having it there, makes me want to buy a light anyway. Great marketing! Use it on my CX4 and it definitely helps aquire paper targets quicker even w/o a red dot. It does aborb some recoil away from my shoulder. Aids in bump firing. I like this grip so much, I tapped my sks stock, added a rail, then took it from my CX4. Just ordered another one to replace. Ive seen plain bolt on, zero feaure pistol grips at Wal -Mart for $45. Definitely this is a bargain.
