My daughter asked me for this game after she was introduced to it last year by her fifth grade math teacher. This game, called The Numbers Game or Shut the Box, is extremely addicting and also educational. When you get bored of the same thing you can always think up new ways to play with it. The rules of one game are to roll the two dice. You get 4 and 5, for example, so you can lift up the 4, 5, or the 9 if you choose to add them together. You lift up the 5, and roll again. This time you got two fives. Your only choice is to lift up the ten, since the five is already up. The goal of this game is to lift up all of the numbers. This game is very educational for pre-schoolers and kindergartners. I would recommend this game to any parents who are trying to teach their kids how to add.
Description of Trademark Poker Shut The Box Game, 10 Numbers
This version of the game is called Shut the Box. It is a very solid game unit of stained finish wood and green felt and comes complete with dice. Rubber "feet" are on the bottom to protect your table top. The object of the game is to get the lowest score for your round. There are numbers 1 through 10 on the board. If an 8 is rolled then the number can be shut off on the board or any numbers that add up to 8 such as a 6 and a 2 or a 5 and a 3. The round ends when a person rolls a number that cannot be taken off the board. If the person has an 11 and a 9 left then their score is 20. If that turns out to be the lowest score after everyone has taken their turn, then that person is the winner.Sports and Outdoors
