It features a chest strap heart rate monitor, easily accessible function buttons, durable resin case, and comfortable resin strap with a stylish tapered profile. For integrating heart rate monitoring into your training, this watch enables you to continuously track your heart rate during exercise as well as pre-set target heart rate zones with alarms that notify you when you are out of the zone. It also offers an automatic activity timer and a workout review that recalls activity time and average/peak heart rates. This streamlined watch also has a month/day/date display with 12/24-hour time.The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. After researching several models/brands, I settled on the Timex heart rate monitor. I have now used it several times to monitor my heart rate as I do my workouts and it has worked seamlessly. The band around my chest is not uncomfortable and once on, I hardly notice it. In testing my heart rate periodically with this and comparing it to some of the machines I use while working out, I find a difference sometimes of 1 beat per minute so I am satisfied that when away from those machines and doing other exercises I trust the readings I am receiving.
All in all, I give this 5 stars and would recommend it to others who are looking for something to help monitor their heart rate.

I bought this heart rate monitor a few weeks ago and I love it. It really does give you all the basic information you need the measure the effectiveness of your workout. I was wary about getting a heart rate monitor with the chest strap, but most of the time I don't even notice it. The only time it bothers me is when I am doing crunches. The adjustment for the strap digs in slightly, but that is to be expected due to the location of it. I also like that the elastic part is removable so I can take it off and wash it after an intense workout. I know there are some cheaper monitors on the market, but this is the cheapest one I found that counts calories. Highly recommended!!!Customer Review: Does just what it should

This is a basic heart rate monitor that works as advertized. The device is easy to set and simple to use and provides an accurate heart rate read-out as well as calories burned. Recovery rate monitoring is a nice added feature for an entry level device. The watch is more compact that many HRMs and comfortable on the wrist. Buttons are easily accessed and the indiglo makes reading the face easy in low light conditions. The watch keeps track of elapsed time in heart rate monitor mode but there is no independent stop watch so if you are looking for stop watch features like split and lap timers this is not the unit for you.Customer Review: Great Purchase!

I purchased a "like new" Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports PHR Monitor Watch and was a little skeptical about what "like new" would be like. I had previously shopped around for a new one and the price was around $73.00. I took a chance and purchased this item for $43.00 and to my surprise it was exactly what it claimed -- it was like new, looks like it never used with the original box and manual. The delivery was amazing.. I had it four days after the day I purchased it and I didn't pay extra. The watch works great and I am thrilled with the purchase. The Timex T5G971 is a great heart monitor and watch for the value conscious consumer. At around $55, it provides consistent beat per minute (bpm) feedback, along with minumum and maximum BPM alarms. Additionally, it stores the workout so you can recover the average bpm, the max bpm, min bpm, total workout time, and the time that bpm were in the zone (between min and max bpm). If desired, a heart rate recovery calculation can be performed, which is the reduction in BPM attained within 1 minute after your workout. This measure is very useful in relating to your risk of heart trouble. Overall, a solid heart rate monitor.
