Sports reviews of Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Personal Heart Rate Monitor WatchCustomer Review: My Heart Beats Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have used this once, it was awesome. Accurate and easy to use!
My lovely wife let me get this for Christmas and since I was home when UPS knocked I got to use it. It is highly addictive and I made the mistake of leaving it out so she could have Santa's elves (lovely daughters) hide it. I am having withdrawals and can't wait till Christmas day.
The immediate feed back is amazing, setup is easy, and the helpful tips for finding your max heart rate are excellent. If you are lucky enough to get one, enjoy. It is not the same working out without it.
It changes your view on working out and it makes it much more effective, and no, the heart rate readers on all exercise equipment is notoriously wrong (unless you think my 40 year heart can go from 180 to 60 to 118 in 15 seconds then go back to 58 to 153 to 98).
Customer Review: What a great help! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful heart rate monitor. It checks my pulse very quickly and accurately, and updates rapidly. It is compatible with most of the aerobic machines in my gym, so I can keep my arms pumping my elliptical. The chest strap is rugged (and waterproof, like the watch). And the watch is VERY durable. I've whacked it hard, and it works fine.
I'm sure many of the other heart rate monitors are also great, but I am very happy I picked this one. I thought the name brand would translate into high quality and durability, and I was right.
As a bonus, the huge numbers make the watch easy to read. I have a much fancier gold and leather watch that I never bother to wear. I leave this thing on my arm at the office. It's only a basic watch (and lacks a true stopwatch for some reason), but I LOVE THIS WATCH.
Customer Review: compatible with POLAR treadmill... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Works great and it even works with Polar Treadmill....
I got on a Polar TRUE treadmill in the gym and it
showed some numbers on the heartrate reading spot
even when I wasn't holding onto the sensor handles...
I didn't realize it at first: thinking something is wrong with
the treadmill and when I looked at my watch the numbers matched!!!
So I like the fact that I don't have to keep looking at my watch
on the treadmill...
Also I think its compatible with all Polar Equipment because
the stair master also read the sensor and displayed on the screen...
You really don't have to wet it like they ask to if you just put it on
and allow some time for it to adjust to your body tempt and does not have to
immediately get readings...
I am glad I bought it.
Customer Review: So far..so awesome..hope I don't jynx myself! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I am going to school to become a personal trainer/Phys Ed teacher, and this was a must in my life, as I really am interested in knowing my exact zones and calories burnt, and not so much relying on cardio machines or estimates. This is my first heartrate monitor, and I must say I am very pleased with it, today I did some circuit training at the gym, being my first day using the monitor. I must say I UNDERestimated myself when it comes to calories burnt, as I was told I burnt about 500 calories in 43 minutes (thank you P90X Biceps and Back). Can't wait for the spring for some nice long outdoor runs! So far, a fantastic beginner heartrate monitor, as I went back and forth between Polar models and this one, I finally flipped a coin and this was what I went with. Sorry Polar but, Timex has very much surpassed my expectations!
Customer Review: Easy to operate and accurate; now I know how to stay in the zone! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I purchased the Timex T5G971 personal heart rate monitor for my wife. I sifted through many reviews and settled on this model based on a Consumer Reports assessment and customer feedback from Amazon.com. I am glad I did. My wife has been using this for about a month now and has fallen in love with it. She uses is when she runs, does yoga as well as her athletic coaching for kids. The immediate feedback appears to be highly accurate and she has not had any issues getting good connectivity with the sensors once they are lightly moistened. The only thing that she's uncertain of is the calorie burn calculations. It consistently looks to be too high (by about 50%) but it's hard to say if that's true or not. Overall she is very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a heart rate monitor.
