The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet)--suitable for swimming but not for diving--and the GPS sensor is splash resistant. All Timex heart rate monitor sensors have batteries that can be replaced by consumers without requiring them to be returned to the manufacturer.
Sports reviews of Timex Ironman T5J985 Unisex Trail Runner Bodylink Heart Rate Monitor WatchCustomer Review: Great for a beginner Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I really like this watch, as a person who use to run and then stopped and now am going to pick it up again, I've read that this is the tool to use to monitor one's training. The watch is straight forward, as Timex watches tend to be. The only caveat, to me, is the synchronization of the GPS to the watch, I seem only to be able to sync the GPS first, then the heart monitor, not the other way around, but that is no major issue, once all is in sync, it works like a charm. Battery life is as expected for an electronic gadget that one uses, real-world scenario: the more you use it, the faster the batteries will drain, even with that, I would recommend it to everyone.
Customer Review: Great watch! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Excellent watch! Very accurate GPS that tracks pace well and does not lose signal. As mentioned, it does take a few minutes to link up the GPS, but once it is linked up, it works perfectly. My only complaint is that it is a unisex watch - but the wrist strap is pretty big for a medium frame woman. As a woman, even the smallest size is a little bit loose. I contacted Timex to see if I could exchange the wrist strap for a smaller one, and apparently the wrist strap it comes with is the only one that fits on the watch. In the end I decided I liked everything else about the watch so much, that I didn't mind a little slipping around.
Customer Review: Great system & easy to use Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've been using this watch/sensor set up for the past 3 weeks and love it. It was easy to use right out of the box, and the more that I explore it's capabilities, the more I learn and enjoy using this system. Having the GPS to let me know how far I'm into my run is awesome, as I find it quite motivating to see the progress.
I've heard instances of people having trouble with the GPS around tall objects, but I have not had any instances of trouble with the GPS retaining a signal.
I would recommend this watch and sensor combination for sure.
Customer Review: Simple - Love it! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews here and echo them - this watch is great. It lets you run without worrying about a route...just run and let the GPS calculate how far you've gone.
Another neat feature is the hands-free. I set it and it logs the split times at every lap. Great feature.
I checked Ebay, and found one new for $155, so check there if you're looking for a deal. Ebay, of course, is hit or miss, and there is more risk involved.
Customer Review: Second one I've bought Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is the second one of these I've bought after doing tons of reasearch for the best training watch. I lost the first one I bought but I liked this watch so much I needed another. Tons of functions and works very well. Also not anywhere near as big as some of the other watches out there. Was also relatively easy to learn to use. Highly recommended and the price has dropped quite a bit since they first came out.
