Customer Review: Slim pickings
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought this item because I am serving in OIF, and I need to be able to see roof tops at a glance or to check the road in front of me for suspisous items, especially when im on the ground. We are issued bino's, but they are very big and bulky, so I needed something smaller. Its hard to get things sent to Iraq, but I was able to find this item that would, an that is one thing I am happy about. It's very light wieght, which is good because of all the other equiptment I have to carry. It has been holding up so far, and serving its purpose. The only bad thing I have seen is that it doesn't have the normal heavy duty feel that i'm use to. I'm reluctant to put it through the abuse that most of my other equiptment goes through. Aside from that I'm pretty happy with this product.

Customer Review: Good for what it is but too powerful for some tasks
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought the Tasco 10x25 monocular as a lightweight alternative to binoculars that I could slip into my pocket. I have no complaints about the product - it is well made and lightweight.

I would suggest, though, that 10x is probably too powerful for most tasks. If I had to do it over again, I would go with an 8x or even 6x scope. The problem is that there is more jitter when holding a monocular versus a binocular. Also the field of view is very limited. This means that locating and focusing on a particular target is difficult. If you and your target are fixed (e.g. golf course), there is no problem. For finding and viewing targets which are more difficult to locate (e.g. birds) I would recommend a smaller magnification.

Customer Review: Acceptable For Quick Viewing
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought this monocular as a pocketable magnifier for traveling, and occasional bird/tree viewing.

I was surprised by the relatively good build quality, considering the price. The monocular is light, but has a good "feel"-not cheap.

I do agree with other viewers that a 10X magnification makes "hand-shake" an issue.

The fully magnified viewing field is also narrow, so don't expect a wide, binocular-like viewing field of the object you're observing.

Still, for quick glimpses of objects, this monocular is ideal, the price is excellent, it's easy to carry, and the build quality is very good.
