I have been playing with this ball for over a year (January 7, 2009) and the only problem I have had was a brother in law coming to town and inflating it to 15 to 20 pounds. I put half an ounce of ball seal it in and have not had a problem with it at all. I'm looking it over and the end of one of the panels has pulled almost 1/16 of an inch away from the other panel. The writing is completely gone and all of the panels have a dirt border.
It is durable though you could get a bad one as with any product
It is much softer than the $20 Mikasa I bought and played two painful games with - and it is still in better condition. I hate Composite balls.
The double bladder is still holding it's round shape.
If you want a less expensive ball the M version is a quality single bladder ball and it feels softer.

Purchased my first SV-5W ball about 2 years ago and it is the now the ball of choice for myself and my teammates. Love the multi color look and the way the ball rotation is so easily seen. It is, as others have noted, both soft and yet very solid on the big hits. I use the ball about weekly from fall-spring and it has held up great...shows some wear but still in very nice shape. This is the one. Very nice feel and performance. I've used the colored balls and even though they should be the same, I've always found them harder than the all white ball. Be careful when inserting the needle. If there is resistance, start over; if you try to jam it through, you could punch a hole in the side of the valve. Also, write your name on the ball or else some hoodlum might be tempted to steal it.Customer Review: Great ball

I've been playing volleyball for 30 years and coaching for 20 years. The moment I was introduced to the Tach SV5W there was no turning back. It is the best volleyball made for serious volleyball players. Until two years ago it would have been a 5-star ball but the SV-5WC (color) balls have been hit and miss. Of 12 new balls I had to return 2 due to defects. Tachikara has a great return policy but one ball, after 3 returns, never was quite right.
But it's not stopping me from ordering 12 more this season!
