Customer Review: My experience with this product and p fasciitis
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I have experienced recurring pl fasciitis since 1989. I'm now almost 62. From the very first night, this boot worked fine and just as described - I've had no morning heel pain since. Based on other reviews here, I bought a smaller size and it fits well.

Getting up at least twice to go to the bathroom is not really that much of a bother to me-I can get that boot off, down the hall to pee, and put it back on while hardly disturbing my sleep! If it's almost time for the alarm, I just leave the boot off.

This boot, combined with a book about 30 things you can do for your feet, 6 weeks of physical therapy, rolling a hard knobby ball under my heel at night, achilles and calf stretching twice daily, and calf raises to strengthen my calves have finally done the trick. And I stretch my achilles tendon if I have the tiniest discomfort after walking or whatever.

The past two evenings I worked in my yard - an activity that in summers past gave me so much foot pain - and NO DISCOMFORT whatsoever!!

My advice to anyone willing to read this - this problem IS managable. You must be willing to learn exactly how plantar fasciitis affects you and then try EVERYTHING to find what works just for you.

Oh yeah, and then actually DO all those good things.

What a relief to no longer feel at the mercy of plantar fasciitis.

Customer Review: Best $60 investment I ever made
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I have to admit, I was very skeptical about this type of product. How could this splint help excrutiating heel pain I had for 3 months? Physical therapy and exercises only succeeded in making what started out as a few painful first steps out of bed into a constantly painful heel condition. I remained very active on my hobby farm, but walking was a chore..not something I looked forward to anymore. I limped all the time; I finally decided to try this splint since other people had similar devices prescribed, and the cost was approximately the cost of a copay for a specialist. I was amazed with the results! I noticed some relief after only two nights...noticeable relief after a week. After two weeks, along with ibuprofen once or twice a day, the difference is extraordinary. Two suggestions: If you are 10 to 10-1/2, order the size that fits 9-1/2 (another user's suggestion as well). It works fine, and is more manageable in size. Wear a cotton athletic sock on the foot that is treated, changing it every night. It allows ventilation, wicks moisture, keeps the splint clean, makes the splint more comfortable. Oh,... you can take a few steps in this splint if you need to make a short trip during the night.

Customer Review: AMAZING RELIEF!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This product MUST be tried to be believed. I actually received it through my doctor's office (not through Amazon) but you must know that after 4 years of pain so AWFUL that I could barely walk to school and pick-up my children and pain so HORRIBLE that I could not walk downstairs to wash laundry (I would have my kids running all over the place) - I have used THIS PRODUCT for 1 week and my heel pain is almost gone in the morning. ALMOST GONE! How on earth is that? Because my foot is kept at a GENTLE 90 degree angle stretch. That's why. You will be amazed.

My heel still becomes a little sore if I wear not padded shoes or if I am hiking...but THE NIGHT SPLINT has changed my life. It has given me hope and put me in a better mood!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Is it uncomfortable??? NO! Can you tell it's there...SURE but it's totally worth it!

Customer Review: This night splint worked for me!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

After suffering for 8 weeks with plantar fasciitis, having a cortisone injection, wearing a shoe insert, and ultrasound treatment, I decided to try the night splint after reading the reviews. What a difference it made - after three nights of wearing the splint, and doing the exercises in the 5-minute P/F solution book, my pain decreased by 80%. I ordered a size smaller as recommended and it was a great idea - expected to have difficulty sleeping with it on, but it is very lightweight and I had no trouble at all. I limited walking in it to nighttime bathroom trips. Was well worth the money!

Customer Review: Tried three different splints.
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I have bilateral plantar fasciitis; mild in one foot, severe in the other. At first I had tried the BIRD & CRONIN splint from my podiatrist but found the narrow straps cut into my ankle if I tightened them enough to get a good flexion.

I had spent many hours researching and reading reviews looking for a splint with wide straps that wouldn't cut into the top of my foot, accommodate my high dorsal arch, was low profile to allow me to turn in bed with both feet splinted.

I tried the Night Splint Body Armor Darco, which is a DORSAL splint. I liked the idea of the toe loop to give my foot the dorsal-flexion it needed. Unfortunately the dorsal splint did not meet up with my expectations. At most with this dorsal splint on I was able to get my foot to stay in a neutral position, no flexion. That was only after tightening the straps so tight as to ending up with numbness on the top of my foot. Loosening the straps allowed my foot to be able to slide forward enough to make it ineffective. After adding a 1 inch thick foam pad to the front of my foot/calf was I able sleep with the splint in place all night. Positives: It was light weight, comfortable, easy to walk in. I think this one may work for some.

Third I tried the Swede-O Deluxe Padded Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint. This was by far the most comfortable. The straps were wide and I was able to strap my foot in well enough that I had a solid splint. It also comes with a extra wedge to increase flexion. (I did not try this) I had the same complaints as others. I wear a womens 9 and ordered the smaller size Medium. the splint is still fairly big and I think I could have even gone with a size small. The velcro is very strong and the edges of the velcro can be irritating. Positive/negative: as it is very well padded my foot got too warm to be comfortable (and this is winter in Wisconsin) I doubt I would be able to stand it in warmer weather.

I am back to using the BIRD & CRONIN splint. I found that if I cross the two bottom straps I get a snug fit that doesn't cut into the top of my foot and keeps it flexed. This one is very open and allows for my feet to stay cool. Still bulkier than I would like, it will have to do.
