Transports up to 2 bikes. Compatible with 1 1/4" and 2" receiver hitch. It has a built in anti-woble hitch device. Upright ratchedt arms easily adjust to different bike frame sizes. It will accomodatge bike framse up to 59cm. The center arm folds down to allow acccess to the rear of the vehicle without removing the rack. Fits 20: to 29" tire sizes. The Swagman XC Cross Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount bike rack was super easy to assemble and to install and remove from my car. Its also very easy and quick to secure my bike on it for transport and remove it to ride. One of the best things about this rack is that I was able to NOT install the brackets for the second bike - making this rack stick out the back of my car about 40% less (my bike sits on the wheel mounts between the vertical bar and the car). Another great feature of this rack is that the rack will mount on any vehicle with a 2" (or 1 1/4") hitch receiver without adjustment, so its easily moved from vehicle to vehicle.
I'm glad I went with this model because with other style racks I don't like the idea of the rack leaning against the bumper, trunk and back window of my car and having to deal with straps.

I can only reiterate what I've seen in some of the other reviews. Easy to assemble, very adaptable to a variety of bike frames, keeps the bikes very secure while traveling. I have 2 road bikes 2 mountain bikes and 1 recumbent and I also have seven grand children with bikes that range in wheel size from 12 inches to 26 inches. The rack will accommodate any combination of all that I've mention above . The recumbent (short wheel base) can be carried alone but I do have to remove the seat when carrying other bikes. The hitch pin that is supplied is great for stabilizing the rack on the vehicle. One of my vehicles is a Jeep wrangler that has a spare tire mounted on the rear of the vehicle, no problem. I've spent a lot of money on the preppy racks in the past but this rack by far is easy to use, store and secure the bikes while traveling.Customer Review: Great Purchase

The design of this bike rack is so much better than the typical design that holds the bikes by the frame. We initially purchased a well made Allen bike rack but we didn't like the way the bikes were mounted so we researched and decided to try this one, we are very happy with this purchase. This rack holds the bikes secure and accommodates any size frame or bike. Loading and unloading the bikes is a breeze and the rack itself is very easy to install on the vehicle. The rack feels very solid and well made. We did purchase the Swagman hitch stabilizer which does a super job at making the rack a rock solid fit.
As a few other reviewers have mentioned, just watch out for the ratcheting top clamps, they can pinch your fingers if you aren't careful ... I consider this a very minor problem.

The rack is easy to set up, although the initial set up will take a bit longer since you'll need to work out the best orientation for your bikes. Tip: put the smaller bike on the inside, and alternate the direction. It keeps the bikes locked down pretty good, and you can lock the ratchet and rack using standard receiver locks so nobody can mess with it. It's very easy to load and unload, and to disconnect from the receiver.
I own a Toyota FJ Cruiser and was concerned that the rack might not have enough clearance behind the spare tire, but our mountain bikes fit with no problems. Of course anything back there will reduce your ground clearance, but on the FJ Cruiser with a factory 2" receiver, it's up high off the ground.

Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver)
This bike rack is as good as it gets. I have struggled with a Thule 956/958 Parkway bike rack for two years and it ruined the finish on our bikes by allowing them to slide together and rub on each other. The Swagman was very easy to assemble and I can't say enough good about it. If your looking for a bike rack, DO NOT get one that has your bikes hanging from a bar. The Swagman supports your bikes from the wheels and holds them solidly, not allowing them to swing or sway. As you can tell, I couldn't be happier!!!!
PS: Dealing through Amazon.com is the only way to go!!!!
