SteriPEN Adventurer is the ultimate tool to take on outdoor adventures for safe drinking water anywhere on earth. The Adventurer uses ultraviolet light (UV) to destroy the DNA of microorganisms making them unable to reproduce and cause illness. There's no pumping, no chemicals, no test strips, no timekeeping, no aftertaste, no clogging, no lubricating and no replacement filters. Just push the SteriPEN Adventurer button once for 32oz. or twice for 16oz., place the lamp in clear water, and stir until the indicator light turns green.Great for hiking and camping, this handheld water purifier destroys viruses, bacteria, and common protozoa. It weighs just 3.6 ounces with two non-rechargeable, disposable batteries (included) and purifies 16 ounces of water in 48 seconds, or 32 ounces in 90 seconds. Backpacking across Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and did not have one day of sickness. Saves a lot of time and money looking for bottles water, not to mention all that plastic. Constantly getting asked what the heck that thing was i was sticking in the water bottle, once they found out many of them were putting the pen on their shopping list for their next trip.
As far as battery life is concerned just buy some rechargeable, they don't cost much.

I bought the SteriPEN before traveling to India and Nepal. Three weeks on trains and in modest lodging, using the pen to sterilize one liter of water at a time.I learned that I had to insert it deep into the water, just a little beyond the rod, otherwise it didn't work. I used it 20 - 30 times and it took away the uncertainty about the water. I'm taking it with me to Mexico this month. It's lightweight and small, so easy to include.Customer Review: Great Product

I toiled over getting a purification pump or the SteriPen and filter combo for my trip to the Appalachian Trail with my Boy Scout Troop. I chose the SteriPen because it also kills viruses (the deciding factor). It worked great. It is light and compact. About one minute to fill a liter bottle with the filter then 90 seconds to sterilize. Worked great for the group. The product was shipped on time and ready to use. We were on our way to do a big hike and took it with us. It was easy to use to purify the water and no one got sick or the runs. The only thing you have to know is that the element used to purify does not fit in a small mouth bottle. The opening has to be at least 2 inches. Luckly we figured that out before we used it and took an adequate size bottle with us.Customer Review: Great addition to any pack!

This thing works as advertised. It seems a little like voodoo (wave this wand around and your water won't kill you) but it hasn't failed me yet. The advantage for me is primarily speed and convenience. It's very nearly foolproof, although it is tough to see the light on during bright days. Revolutionary product.
