The Commander V's built-in compass makes it ideal for open-water adventures.

The Commander V also includes a high-depth-of-field Sports Auto-Focus that gives you a clear view of everything from 20 yards to infinity without refocusing, making it perfect for spotting buoys, markers, and navigational hazards. The depth of field and Steiner's incredibly bright optics work especially well at night, when the exact distance of objects is uncertain. As a bonus, the Commander V comes with an integrated compass, so you can easily determine your bearings while on the open water.

Durability
Steiner binoculars have always been legendarily rugged. The Commander V boasts a high-quality Makrolon housing that protects the sensitive technology and helps the binocular hold up to extreme environmental conditions. Guaranteed shock-resistant and mil spec waterproof (tested to a submersion depth of 5 meters), the rubber armoring offers a superior grip, protects the binocular from dents and bumps, and prevents slipping on wet surfaces. The nitrogen pressure system, meanwhile, complete eliminates inner fogging from -40 to 176 degrees F. And thanks to the intelligent prism suspension--which includes a carriage made of special silicon--your vision will stay completely aligned. Perhaps the most important housing feature, however, is the newly integrated compass, which is now assembled entirely within the binocular. This means the compass is no longer in danger of being damaged at the connection point or being shared off. Further, the entire compass is now rubber armored.
