if you're like me, then you're looking at this so you can have a hot lunch at work or school without having to eat out. and you should. a hot bowl of tomato soup is way better for you then going down the road for some fast food or ordering a pizza or Chinese. but you really should only put canned soups in it. i made Ramen soup and put it in there (not sure what i was thinking) and the noodles just kept cooking while they were in it, so by the time i ate it they were all mush. but chicken noodle soup from the can was fine (i assume they use a special kind of noodle that can stand being in the broth for months without getting mushy). chili is my favorite, and after four hours in it, it's still to hot to eat. six hours and you might still have to blow on it first. just make sure you fill it with hot water to heat it up first. makes it work even better.Customer Review: Steaming hot soup!

I bought the Bolt to take to work with me and use it to hold soup. I love that it's large enough to hold a large can of soup so there are no leftover bits of soup in the fridge. It is a little heavy, but seems very well-made and like it will last for years and years. I leave my house around 8am and generally eat around 12:30pm. As long as you warm the Bolt up for 5 minutes (per the instructions) with boiling water and then put in your hot soup, it will stay steaming hot til lunchtime, and even when I've emptied it out at night, when I didn't eat the soup, it is still warm (definitely above room temp) at 6pm when I get home. I'm not sure I would buy this for cold beverages, because it did say in the instructions that it is not to be used with carbonated beverages (soda). For anyone that's looking for a hot lunch - this is an excellent product!Customer Review: A Terrific Product!

I bought this for my son several weeks ago because he wanted hot lunches but didn't like the selection at school. Honestly, I bought it mostly based on all the positive reviews. I was eager to see if it worked as well as most people said it did.
Well, my son has mostly taken soups to school in it, and he says that the soup is always as hot as if it just came off the stove. Just today he took pasta in it, and he said it was just as hot.
In the morning, I leave the boiling water in for just 5 minutes, and the latest my son has lunch at school is 12:15. I prepare the thermos at 6:30 a.m.! It's also the perfect size for a couple of servings and fits nicely in the side pocket of his backpack.
I would HIGHLY recommend this product!!

It has since (original review 12/11/09, update 2/10/11) stopped keeping things hot for some reason. not sure why.
yeah, i know, it's crazy! this thing doesnt roll, and is much less likely to tip over. it has 2 lids, one is like a mini bowl, and the other one is just the top to the thermos.
*********AS LONG AS YOU FILL IT WITH BOILING/ICY WATER BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR FOOD/DRINK IN HERE AND FILL IT ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP IT WILL STAY
i tested it. i put boiling water to the top in it and put a postit with the time and came back 24hrs later. when i opened it steam began pouring out.
HOWEVER, when i filled it halfway, the water was only warm.

I received this item as a gift and today is the first chance I got to try it "in the field". I am very happy with it as it has met all my expectations. It:
- completely holds a 10oz can of condensed soup(with water)
- keeps food hot. After 9 hours, I wouldn't say my soup was "piping"
hot, but it was hot enough that I did _not_ have to put it in
the microwave.
- does not leak. It was on its side for those 9 hours.
- has a wide mouth. Made cleaning it easier. Also, with the wide mouth,
I would expect you could eat directly from the jar (rather than pouring
into the lid first).
Soup is the staple of my lunch, but I am anxious to try the jar with other foods as well.
