Customer Review: just bought another
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought one of these a couple of months ago and my kids compete to see who gets it in their lunch. I just ordered a second, they take soup for lunch and its hot and yummy. They feel sorry for the kids eating school lunch :-) and theyre eating veggies!

Customer Review: Keeps things hot!
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

It really works very well! I poured boiling water in it five hours ago and when I opened it up again, the steam fogged up my glasses. Nice!
My only problem is the difficulty in opening. I'm a 22-year-old female with stick arms so that's probably why opening it is a bit of a struggle. That's why I took off one star. I don't have this problem opening my Nissan Thermos bottle. This is definitely not a product to give to your small child to take for lunch. But in every other way, it's perfect!

Customer Review: Excellent Old School Thermos
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought a red on at the local Nob Hill foods. I also tried the same test that most people here did. I'm happy to report my soup was still "too hot" five hours after closing the lid. The size is just perfect for taking to work with me in my back pack. My only complaint is the plastic smell is taking a little longer to go away than I would like. Thinking of soaking it in hot water for a couple hours instead of the 20 minutes I did originally.

Customer Review: Apparently not suitable for milk
Sport shop rating: 2 Stars

This jar works well, but keeping it clean is a problem. It's being used for non-fat milk and after several months, I am not able to keep what seems to be milk fat from accumulating on (in?) the gasket even with soaking it and scrubbing it daily. The only way I could get any of it off was scraping with my nails, and that damaged the gasket in short order. It leaks too much with no gasket. Since the jar is otherwise exactly what I needed, twice I've ordered new lids just for the gasket ($6 each + shipping), and the same thing happened. I've tried to contact the company about ordering just the gaskets. Twice. But I've gotten no response other than "we'll get back to you within 48 hours". Both times, 48 hours turned into weeks, and still no reply. So far including the purchase price it's cost about $35 in about 18 mos. It's getting too expensive and time consuming to keep using it, so I'm looking to replace it with something else. If you want to use this to keep milk for kids, or maybe even cereal with milk, look elsewhere.

Customer Review: Defective product
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

As happened to another reviewer, I bought one of these, it worked fine for a couple weeks, then could not keep soup hot even for a couple hours. I noticed vertical hairline cracks around the lip of the bottom section, where it meets the main body. (I had hand washed it, no dish washer or microwave, etc.) I assumed those cracks ruined the vacuum barrier and any heat retention.
As I loved the size and apparent sturdiness, I tried another. When I bought it, the bottom piece was smooth and shiny. (I checked carefully.) Then in just a couple weeks the same thing happened, hairline cracks and no heat retention. The "cracks" appear to be thin vertical cuts, pretty uniform in depth and spacing. To me it looks like instead of working with precision parts, they ram on the bottom cap with pre-cut notches to make it fit (sort of), then cover over the thin cuts. I'm about to send the second one back (as I saved the receipt), but given the other reviewer's experience with the highly touted "lifetime warranty," I'm not optimistic.
Too bad a once reliable brand has gone cheap. Do not buy.
