Customer Review: Perfect for Knee Rehab

I was searching for a recumbent bike before I had knee replacement surgery. I was a bit wary, since I thought a large bike would take up too much room and be too difficult to move out of the way when not in use. When I found the Stamina In Stride Cycle and read the reviews, I thought I had found a good compromise. It turns out that this was the perfect bike for knee rehab! It's sturdy, lightweight, easy to use, and easy to move around. I had read that the bike moved around a lot- and it does. However, I put some non skid rug backing under it, and it stays put just fine. What clinched it for me was that my in home therapist brought one with her during my first week of rehab. This is the perfect item to get started on your range of motion exercises. My out patient therapist also recommends it- she calls it "the restorator", since it restores your normal knee motions. Both therapists suggested I use it as often as possible, and I have nothing but high praise for it. Now, if you are looking for a tough riding workout, I don't think this is it, but if you want something that will help you get back to normal range of motion after surgery, and is easy to move out of the way when you are not using it, the Stamina In Stride is a great choice, and a good bargain!Customer Review: shop rating: 5 Stars
Before I used this item, I had very severe pains in my knees, which were caused by my jogging almost 5 miles every three other days for the last 20 years. It was sometimes very painful for me to walk down or up on the stairs. After my continuous using this item more than a hour every day for the last three weeks, I feel no severe pain or discomfort any more. It is a great device for healing sore knee joints. I strongly recommend this product for the individuals less than 65 years old with knee pains. Also, I prefer this product to automatic or electric bikes because I could control the speed at my own pace while I am reading at the desk or using a computer. I recently bought both items for testing how the bike helps a joint problem and which one works better for my age (55). Upon my full satisfaction with efficacy of both products, I gave the automatic one to my 79 years old mother, who also has been suffering the same knee cramps for the past 30 years. She amusingly says it has been greatly helpful for relieving her knee ache as well as letting her stay exercising indoor in such a cold weather. Ok first off, The package came on time and it's well built. I received it 2 days ago. I bought this cycle for my father because he has rheumatoid arthritis and high blood pressure. His legs became numb months ago, causing him to fall a lot and not be able to walk without assistance. It's only been 2 days since he's been using it and the numbness in one of his legs is gone and he is able to walk a lot better and he hasn't fell yet, thank god. He says that he can "already feel a difference". He was not able to walk without dragging his left foot, but now it is already lifting off of the ground. The cycle seems to be improving the circulation and strength in his legs.
He used the cycle for 20 mins. on the first day and 30 mins. on the 2nd. day, which is today. I can see the improvement and it makes me happy. This will also help lower his blood pressure. I created a workout routine for him and I use words a lot to keep him motivated. This is worth the money.
And yes it does give a slight pause when u cycle, but all that does is makes him try harder to push, which gives him more of a workout. I love this thing!and so does he!

I have bought two of these. One is for my wife, who is not in physical therapy and has no particular joint problems, but who has a lot of nervous energy and gets very figdety at work, and hit upon the idea of getting one of these to keep underneath her desk at work so she can pedal during the day. This reduces her need to get up and walk around the office on a periodic basis and helps her to focus more.
Then, after my mom found out about it, she wanted one too, so I got her one too. She has had a knee replacement surgery approximately five years ago and although the knee is fine, she has had a few ancillary problems with muscle soreness and pain in her legs. After only a couple days of using this bike for 15 minutes she says that everything feels better already.
So, although I haven't used the product myself, the whole family seems pretty pleased with it. I should stress that in neither case are they trying to use this device for fitness and exercise, for which I would imagine a stationary bike would be better.

I am very satsified with this product. I have a condition that makes it difficult for me to get out and exercise, but I can't afford an expensive piece of equiptment-and don't have the room for it if I could. The InStride Cycle fits my needs perfectly! I keep it under a table beside an arm chair and I pedal for an hour every day while I watch a movie. I noticed a difference in the first week of increased stamina. I was conscerned I might have to pedal really fast to get an effective workout, but at a nice rhythm I can get my heart and breathing rates up nicely.

A lot of reviewers have mentioned that it gets hot and I would say it gets very, uncomfortably hot after just a few minutes of use. This hasn't affected it's performance at all. If I had a small child in the house I would be sure to use it away from their touch. After use I let it sit and cool off for about 30 minutes (the rest of the movie) before moving it back to it's storage spot.
I highly recommend this cycler. It's been great!
