8cr13Mov not the best steel in the world but at this price this tenacious is a steal.(Easy to sharpen, but doesn't keep its razor sharp edge for long *insert sad but happy face here*)
The full flat grind that comes along for the ride with this spyderco tenacious is great for EDC (Every Day Carry) tasks such as cutting card board, leather jackets, a super-villains , fruits, or even meats.
The G10 Handles provides superb traction and comfort ability. (The G10 handles are so smooth!)
The notches on the back of the blade on the tenacious is outstanding because it provides better control of the knife when cutting, slashing or piercing at various stationary or movable objects.
The clip attached to the tenacious could be carried tip up or tip down on and either on the right or left hand sides on the tenacious meaning its perfect! due to the fact that it can be carried tip up or tip down on either the left hand side or right side that one prefers.
Fortunately, the spyderco tenacious can further be used as a tactical weapon because of its whopping 3 3/8 inch reach it can leave a nasty scar on those unsuspecting so called "bad guys" or water bottles (Not that I have tried). However, I wouldn't advise doing so.On the other hand, "its better to be safe than sorry" some say.If used for tactical use to protect ones life I would advise one to use the greatest caution and care(with great knives comes great responsibility).
weight, I'm not going to lie its not as light nor is it as short as most of my EDC knives either. However with weight comes flexibility (length) because this knife can be both used for either tactical or EDC use without loosing any usability then it means the pros outweigh the con.
Made in China nevertheless, Spyderco's quality control is top notch each blade is made is covered by the warranty of any defects (correct me if im wrong).
The linear lock feels pretty strong, hadn't had a problem yet however, the linear locks great frame strength plays a good role in keeping this knife from folding. I've never taken this knife out of its point of use to test its linear lock capabilities but, in time I will since its less than one third the price of most expensive knives out there. (I only used this knife on cardboard, meat,fruits, vegetables, and on mail never put it through hard use/abuse)
Overall, this tenacious is a great balanced blade and I hope that my review helped you in deciding whether you wanted to purchase this knife or not.
Description of Spyderco Tenacious G-10 Handle Folding Plain Edge Knife
The 8Cr13Mov stainless blade is leaf-shaped and ground flat from spine to cutting edge for cutting performance. The blade's shape coupled with an oversized Spyderco Round Hole and textured spine jimping allow you to open the blade and position your thumb on the spine in slip-proof confidence ready for work. Tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand carry.The mid-sized Tenacious knife has a black G-10 laminate handle, milled with prolonged, fatigue-free cutting in mind. Tucked inside are skeletonized steel liners which increase the handle's rigidity and strength without adding non-functioning weight or bulky thickness.
