I've only had this knife for 48 hours so this is mostly an initial impression.
Product Description: The blade is about 3-1/2 inches long and the handle is nearly five inches long. When opened, the knife is about 8-1/2 inches. It fits my short, wide hands quite well. It's a fairly big knife but has a rather slender profile so it fits into a front jeans pocket fairly well and Spyderco did a great job of keeping the weight down by skeletonizing the liners and using a high quality plastic (they call it fiberglass reinforced nylon) handles. The pocket clip is secured to the knife with three small torx head screws and is reversible to either end or either side. That doesn't make sense for a knife designed for tip up carry only, but they use the same handles on Endura knives without the wave feature so it saves them another part to inventory. The lock is very positive and audibly clicks when engaged.
Sale/delivery rating: I ordered this knife via Amazon Prime. It arrived the following day. You simply can't beat service like that so Amazon earns five out of five stars.
Quality of Product: The knife is made at Spyderco's Seki City, Japan factory and arrived sharp, well constructed and ready for use by a right hander. Spyderco has a reputation of providing high quality products for reasonable prices. I feel they easily met these standards with this product. Five stars
Quality of design: It's too early to tell. There is a learning curve with this knife. Utilizing the Emerson Wave Feature is not simply a matter of pulling the knife from your pocket with the blade swinging free and locking into place. It requires an outward twisting of the wrist and a bit of wrist snap to get the blade to open completely and lock. I've complicated the matter by switching the clip to the opposite side and trying to use the knife left handed. I'm a rightie but I believe in keeping my options open and my right hand free. That is only going to add to the time required to gain proficiency with this knife. I am confident the design is sound but I believe the time required to master the use of this knife is going to be much longer than I had initially hoped. I did purchase a training version Spyderco Blade/Opener Folder Knife With Red FRN Handle Md: C10TRWbut it has not arrived yet. Four stars - only because the use of the Wave feature is not as intuitive as Spyderco would have you believe.
Manufacturer support. Go to the spyderco website and you'll find every replacement part available for this knife but the blade itself. That is very important to me.

If knives could be created in the same way we choose players for fantasy football league teams, every hardcore knife knut would recruit features and characteristics they like best from different knife companies and combine them into their favorite knife. Spyderco will undoubtedly fulfill many knife knuts knife fantasy picks with the introduction of the Delica and Endura with Emerson's opening feature. These models combine all that?s functional and performance-based in a Spyderco folder with the blade-opening feature made popular and patented by Ernest Emerson of Emerson Knives. The Emerson opening feature is a hook curving out the top of the knife?s blade. When removing the knife from a front pocket it catches the pocket?s edge quickly opening the knife blade ready to use. The knife can also be taken out of the pocket without engaging the opening feature by pulling it straight up and out with your fingers on top of the closed blade. Delicas and Enduras with Emerson's opening feature have screw construction making cleaning and adjusting easier. Their gray fiberglass reinforced nylon handles are molded with Bi-Directional Texturing® for traction and improved ergonomics. Inside the handle dual skeletonized stainless steel liners strengthen the knife without additional weight and create an anchor for external and internal components to attach through for more sturdiness and rigidity. Their VG-10 blades are flat saber-ground with a stronger tip and larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade?s spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed clip.Combining the functional, performance-based design of classic Spyderco knives with the patented Emerson blade-opening feature, the Endura 4 plain-edge folding knife is ideal for a host of applications. The Emerson opener is the Endura's most distinctive feature, with a hook that curves out of the top of the knife blade. Each time you remove the Endura 4 from a front pocket, the hook will catch the pocket's edge, quickly opening the knife blade so it's ready to use. The Emerson opener makes this a terrific knife for fishing, hunting, and other sports where one-handed use is crucial. You can also take the knife out of your pocket without engaging the Emerson hook by pulling it straight up and out, with your fingers placed on top of the closed blade.
Functionally, the Endura 4's VG-10 steel blade is flat saber-ground with a strong tip and a large 13mm opening hole. Users will also love the gray fiberglass reinforced nylon handle, which is molded with Bi-Directional Texturing for traction and improved ergonomics. And inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless-steel liners, which strengthen the knife without adding additional weight. This also creates an anchor for attaching external and internal components. Other features include screw construction for easy cleaning and adjustment; slip-resistant jimping on the blade's spine; and phosphor bronze washers that smooth out the open/close action.
