Description of Spyderco C66PBK3 Centofante III Knife

The Centofante III is thin profiled and has a lightweight FRN handle. It has two channels that are furrowed out of the handle for better grip. The VG-10 blade has both a hollow-grind and wedge-grind with non-sharpened spine serrations. It also has a black steel pocket clip positions for tip-up/down, right-hand carry.
Frank Centofante is well known in the custom knife industry, a celebrated veteran knifemaker, past president of the Knifemaker's Guild, and respected voice in the cutlery community. Innovative knife company Spyderco has collaborated with Centofante several times, with this model being the latest result.

The Centofante 3 offers a sleek profile with lightweight fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle. Two channels are furrowed into the handle for improved grip, and an eye-catching palladium silver Spyderco bug is inlayed into the handle's surface. For convenience and improved security, the back-lock is positioned at the midpoint of the blade's spine, with a clever David Boye dent cut from the locking lever. The razor sharp VG-10 steel blade has both a hollow grind and Swede grind for versatile use, and -- when it's time to be on the move -- a black steel pocket clip offers a variety of carrying configurations.

Sports reviews of Spyderco C66PBK3 Centofante III Knife

Customer Review: Centofante 3
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I received this knife from Amazon this past Monday. Their shipping was very prompt as it was ordered the Saturday before.

As for the knife it is very nice. The lockup is tight without any blade play. The blade came shaving sharp from the factory, I love the weight of the knife, and the handle is very nice. It carries (tip up) as if it isn't in your pocket.

I only gave it 4 Stars for the following reasons. The blade if off center within the handle, and very close if not touching the liner in the knife. I haven't noticed any rubbing, but I will watch this and send it back to Spyderco should it become an issue. Also, the trademark Spyderco blade hole has a slight burr. While not sharp, it's definitely noticeable, and could have been corrected at the factory.

Customer Review: Very nice EDC knife
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

This is a nice blade from Spyderco, it has a slim profile and is great gentlemans knife. Lock up is tight, no blade wiggle, and the clip seems tight. As I just got this I haven't had the opportunity to carry it yet and see if the clip comes loose. The only star I knocked off was for the cool spider shiny on the handle it wasn't seated really flush so it does grab a tiny bit. As my thumb tip ares caloused I ran them over the shiny spider and it did remove some small skin flakes. Now this is not a big deal and my only worry would be if it gets pulled off then I might be a little distressed.

Customer Review: Great knife
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I don't think I'll drag on for too long on this review. It's a great overall knife, I love the look and the size of it. The lock up on this is perfect, though was a bit tricky to figure out how to release the lock with one hand(but I did find out). VG 10 steel for a pretty nice price. It came razor sharp, could shave with it, but I've never shaved my face with a knife(would probably get a few cuts). I do wish that they didn't use rivets so it could be cleaned easier. Also wish mine didn't come in such a banged up box from USPS and that it was oiled a bit better for easier opening.

Customer Review: good knife for the money
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I have had several spyderco knives prior to this one and am accustomed to vg-10 steel. This steel is easy to sharpen and maintains an edge for a decent period of time. My only problem is the handle which is FRN, a type of cheap plastic, spyderco did not make the handle nearly as abrasive as i would have liked it to be i am more of a fan of the g-10 handle. All in all this is a very good EDC knife for the price point.

Customer Review: Very nice folder
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I'm extremely happy with my Centofante. Locks up tight as a drum, no play in any direction. Came from the box 'hair-popping' sharp, and is extremely light weight. I've been carrying it everyday for about 2 weeks now. Quite the slicer with the narrow blade. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that you can't disassemble the knife to clean or tighten it (should you ever need to).
