Sports reviews of Spyderco C66PBK3 Centofante III KnifeCustomer Review: Best EDC Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
By far the best EDC (every day carry) knife that I own. First off the upside;
1. Great blade shape, thin but strong. Can't go wrong with vg-10 steel. Handle fits great in the hand and even fits great for larger hands.
2. Extremely light. Half the time you forget its in your pocket.
3. Thumb jimping it great. You can really dig your thumb in and cut.
4. Thumb hole is great and deploys with ease. Not stiff at all and with some work will really loosen up so you can deploy it faster and faster.
5. Locks up really tight. No wiggle at all.
6. Pocket clip is nice. Sits high so very little of the knife shows and the clip is pretty strong.
7. Pre drilled holes for tip up or tip down carry.
Downside
1. Not to sharp out of the box. Needs a little bit of sharpening but once sharpened it really holds an edge.
2. Slick handle. Thumb jimping and ramp makes up for it though.
Great EDC knife. Spyderco went out of the way to make a good knife that I use everyday, and I have many knives to pick from. It is NOT assisted opening however can be deployed, with some practice, as fast or faster than an assisted opener.
You will not be disappointed.
Customer Review: A lot of knife for the weight and size Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
A three inch blade for a knife that only weighs 2.4 ounces is awesome. The hollow ground geometry on this knife makes it a great slicer. The handle is comfortable and attractive. It's VG-10 steel is attractive, holds an edge well and sharpens fairly easily. The fit and finish on the Japanese made knife are great. The lock back is very sturdy.
Please note that this knife's blade is very thin so it may not take the beating that thicker knives would. But it is still strong enough for light to medium use. Also, because of it's lock back design, it takes a little more force to open than some other knives. But it's still easy enough to open. And the lock back is a little tricky to close one-handed. But with a little practice it's still pretty easy.
So if you want a real work horse; a super fast opener; or a super fast closer - look elsewhere. But if you are just looking for a well-made, attractive, slim, one-hand opening, lightweight knife for light to medium use; you've found your knife.
Customer Review: Ideal every day carry knife Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I purchased this knife over a year ago for camping and every day carry. It has not disappointed. This knife is the perfect size, large enough for every job I throw at it yet not heavy/bulky. The steel is amazing. It keeps a sharp edge for a long time and can be sharpened to razor sharpness if that is your desire. Personally I like the shape of the blade on the Centofante III more than the Centofante IV.
I found flipping the clip to the opposite end allowed a more comfortable carry in the right pocket for a righty. The way the knife comes from the factory the jimping is up and exposed to the hand when reaching in the pocket, swapping ends allows the abrasive jimping down and out of the way.
The one handed open design on the knife works great, opening with a satisfying snap. I have trouble going back to my other knives that require two hands to open, I am now spoiled with a one handed opener.
Give this knife a try.
Customer Review: Rucker Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Spyderco Centofante 3 is a very light (2.5 oz.)folder from Seki-city Japan. It is made with a VG-10 steel blade and makes a very good gentleman's EDC. For more of a workman's version try the USA made Manix 2 / 154CM steel, which is also an excellant knife but twice the weight and for heavier usage. The Centofante blade is made in Seki-City Japan. I like the weight of the Centofante - you forget it's there. An inexpensive, middle of the road so to speak, would be the Spyderco Tenatious / made in China. I use all three but not for the same things. The main difference between them is the weight and construction. Length is very similar. If you are in to these kind of knives I suggest a 1" X 30", leather belt strop (1/3 hp. motor) Nothing keeps the edges better. For a light weight EDC you can't beat the Centofante.
Customer Review: This is a very good knife - useful blade and easy to carry Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I really like Spyderco knives. They make high quality, innovative products. This knife is an example of a trend I really like - getting a great custom knife maker to collaborate on a production knife. This gives the collector a chance to own a great knife at a much more affordable price.
The special features of this knife are the shape of the blade, ease of operation (opens very smoothly with 1 hand) and the grip of the handle. It also carries nicely in my pocket - good weight and no sharp edges to damage your pocket.
You can't carry knives into a lot of places these days, but I use a blade every day and this is one that I carry a lot.
Take a look and see if you agree.
