The Fun Ride Deluxe is excellent for building motor skills, upper body strength, and physical confidence. Kids who learn by using their muscles will particularly appreciate the physical activity, and the natural endorphin release is an additional perk for all users of the trolley. Sports reviews of Spring Swings Deluxe Fun Ride (Colors May Vary)Customer Review: Needs adjustment each year Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
We have owned this zip line for two years now. The set up is MUCH more difficult then the directions would have you believe. Pulling the wire around the tree and tightening it as far as possible requires a lot of strength. Then, each year the wire has sagged at bit more...although the tension can be increased easily enough with 'turning' the bit. However we are now at its tightest and it still sags. My kids only weigh 50 and 70 pounds so we aren't stressing it. I am now at the point where I will have to 'rewrap' the wire. Like other reviewers, the angle must be higher than the directions state in order for the ride to not stop in the middle. We are at 15ft down to 5 ft. Wish I had a higher ladder so I could set it up a bit higher. Even with my wimpy girls they wish the ride were a bit faster. The ride stops a good 8 feet from the bottom tree so its a pretty short 'ride.' I'll do my best since I have to rewrap it anyway. (as long as it doesn't send the kids INTO the tree that is...)
I am not looking forward to the job, but with all that being said.....
Once it is set up - the ride is Worth It!
After 2 years of easy use everything is still running smoothly - although we do oil the wheels and retighted the hand piece a couple of times during the year.
Customer Review: not bad for the money Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
I set up this product between 2 trees in my heavily wooded backyard with the 70 foot cable. It has held up pretty good now for over a year with lots of kids on it. I think the limit says 225 lbs but I wouldn't have more than about a 100 lb kid on it just to be safe. A 225 lb kid would break the line or drag it down to the ground first LOL....The rollers and plastic of the grab handle are holding up good so I feel I got my money's worth. It took me only a couple of hours to set up and I advise to put the cable as high as is safe for kids to climb up a tree and get to it, 12-15 ft or so. Heavier kids will have their feet dragging the ground if you don't do this and that's not much fun. When it hits the stop at the end some younger kids can lose grip and fall at that point so have an adult or older kid be ready to catch them at the end. Keeps the kids occupied
Customer Review: Snapped Screw on Zip Line! Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
We've enjoyed this product for a year, but yesterday a visiting friend had an accident caused by this "Fun" Ride. The end peice shown, an oval with two screws, that you use to tighten the line, snapped when a trim 7 year old boy was on it. This should have held a grown man! We got the deluxe, just to be on the safe side with weight of users. He got a deep cut on top of his head, a bruise, and obviously a scare. This is not how I like to spend our playdates, and his father had to leave work. My husband put this toy together, he is a skilled craftsman, it wasn't put together incorrectly. I have yet to inform the company of this accident at our home, (that is why I logged on today, to get their info) but I hope that they address the problem. Good luck, and be careful.
Customer Review: Pricey Fun Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
We bought this for our 8 year old daughter this Christmas. She is having a great time with it, as are the neighbors' kids. I gave it only four stars due to the price. We still can't understand why a plastic handle grip and a length of wire costs $100. Plus, my husband spent an additional $50 on lumber to build the kids a sturdy platform to take off from. But, we spent it and we are enjoying it. We do not have it extended the full 70 feet, but the kids are getting a great ride at 40 feet anyway. Recommended if you want to spend the money.
Customer Review: Nothing to warn you that you can kill your tree! Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
I agree with other reviews that there is a lot more to the setup than instructions provide. One very important detail is that if you wrap something tight and abrasive around a tree limb it will eventually cut through the bark and destroy the outer most ring. If this happens the limb will die. Instead, use a steel bracket with 2, 1/2" holes, pre-drill with a 7/16" blade bit, and secure with 1/2" x 6" lag bolts. This setup can hold 1000 lbs+ and is the method I used to build my tree house
