About Speedo
In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn?t take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it?s manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange.

Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits.

Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland?s Inge de Bruijn.

Sports reviews of Speedo Vanquisher Swim Goggle

Customer Review: Good Quality, but fogging after every lap
Sport shop rating: 3 Stars

After every lap, I have to dip these in water to defog the glasses. Except that very comfortable. Giving 3 starts, as my main purpose to buy this is for anti-fog feature, in which it has failed.

Customer Review: If you want bruised eyes...
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

I've just recently started swimming at our aquatic center. They are tight but not uncomfortable. However, after wearing these Speedo Vanquishers for only an hour they bruise my eye sockets and make the hollows underneath my eyes even hollower. I have adjusted them just to the point where they keep out water, so they shouldn't be too tight. It takes almost 24 hours before the bruising goes away. They do keep out water and are fog-free. A woman who swims regularly at the pool said about the bruising, "They all do that." If so, I'm going to give up swimming. I asked the advice of a friend who has been swimming for years, and she just wrote me: "You're wearing the wrong goggles! Get TYR." She's a beautiful woman who has a public position -- she's on the city council, among other things -- and would not go around with bruised eyes. So I'm placing an order for TYR Nest Pros now.

Customer Review: Red eyes
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

I normally use the cheap off-the-shelf goggles from Target for my swimming, but I thought I'd give these a try when they went on sale so cheap. Unfortunately, my eyes must be too large or too far apart or something, because I could never adjust these goggles so water didn't get in my eyes. They are smaller than other goggles I've used in the past, which probably explains it.

Customer Review: uncomfortable
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

nice goggles but extremely uncomfortable
they hurt my eyes after ten minutes of swimming
try the tyr velocity goggles used them for years
and they were never uncomfortable, I just bought a
pair after swimming once with these speedos

Customer Review: feels like my eyeballs are being sucked out.
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

OK, I don't normally wear goggles. But these are sooooo uncomfortable. They don't rest on bone -- my eyeballs feel like they are being sucked out. I am going to have to give them away.
