About Speedo In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn?t take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it?s manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange. Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits. Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland?s Inge de Bruijn. Sports reviews of Speedo Vanquisher Swim GoggleCustomer Review: My daughter LOVES these Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
My daughter is on the high school swim team. She has been swimming for about 7 years now. We recently moved and she's attending a new high school. When asked what goggles he recommended, the coach opened his file cabinet and handed us a pair of Vanquisher goggles. My daughter tried them at her next practice and came home from school praising these goggles. She wears contacts in the pool and says that no water gets under these googles. She also said that they are very comfortable. I'm back to buy a couple pair for her younger sister.
UPDATE: My youngest (age 14) loves them too, and my girls never agree!
Customer Review: My brother the swimmer loves these googles Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I bought these [clear color version] as a gift for a young adult male who is an avid indoor swimmer. According to the gift recipient, "they're excellent," they really don't leak or fog up. He was thrilled to finally find a pair of goggles that didn't get any water in his eyes. (but please note: he doesn't swim for more than one half-hour at a time, so I can't vouch for whether they stay unfogged after longer periods of continuous pool activity.) He also said that the fit is very good, and the choices of nose bridge make these goggles accessible to most face types. For the price, these are an excellent bargain.
Customer Review: Great competition goggles Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have swam competitively for over 10 years and have used several different kinds of goggles. I have always been a fan of Speedo's rubber fitted goggles and these live up to their reputation. The straps work great in spreading the pressure throughout the goggles. The goggles also do not put much pressure on the eye sockets, making it easier to wear for long practices. The goggles also have great design. With just a little moisture, these goggles can stay on with most people's faces without even using the straps. I can assure you that these goggles will please any swimmer, whether they be a novice or expert.
Customer Review: Great Goggles Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
These are really good googles for swimming and they really are water tight. I use these in our pool and I quickly forget that I have googles on and just enjoy swimming. Over time they will make my eyes a bit sore from the airtight suction that keeps the water out, but that takes a while to occur and meanwhile, they are comfortable and allow me to see underwater and avoid any chlorine sting.
I got the clear model and highly recommend these googles to anyone that is looking for a comfortable pair of swimming googles.
Customer Review: Ze goggles, ze work! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I ordered these Speedo swim goggles after the strap from my old goggles snapped.
They fit well after a lot of adjusting. The strap has an odd design that makes adjusting very tedious.
The blue tint of the goggles makes for a strange swimming experience. Things will seem yellow after removing them.
The goggles perform very well while swimming. They're very airtight and do not fog.
