Sports reviews of Speedo Silicone Swim CapCustomer Review: Great for long-term use, bad if you want to keep your hair DRY. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I'm a woman, and I have medium-length hair which is really thick. This cap is actually very good for my hair type, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who has hair like mine. The cape fits perfectly over my head and can easily be pulled down.
Pros ---
1. Fit - I have medium-length hair, and if I pull the cap halfway over my head and then curl my hair around my finger, I can easily stuff it into the cap. Doesn't cause me any headaches.
2. Longevity - I have had the same blue and white swim cap for a little over 2 years now. So far, so good!
3. Not rubber or Latex - Silicone, I think, is the best when it comes to swim caps. Rubber sticks to my head and pulls out my hair, not a pretty sight when you are trying to get it on and off.
4. Good for Chlorine - This cap will withstand loads of chlorine that you throw at it and it won't break or rip.
Cons --
1. Hair sticks to the inside - A lot of the time I find that some strays hairs (loose hairs, because the cap itself doesn't pull out any hair) will stick to the inside of the matte-finish swim cap. Even if I turned it inside out most of the time the hair sticks really good so I have to pick it off.
2. Rides up after a long time of swimming - If you swim for more than 1/2 hour at a steady pace (free style swimming is what I do), then this cap will start to ride up. I have had this cape for three years so maybe it is the age, but every once in awhile I have to pull it down, especially over the back of my head in order to keep all of my hair inside.
Also, this really isn't a con, but if you are looking to keep your hair COMPLETELY dry, I would look elsewhere. Because it is Silicone it does slide a bit on the head easily and can get the 'ends' of the hair (the roots sticking out at the base of the neck) wet at the end of a swim. Also, I find it much easier to get the hair fully wet using regular shower water before putting it on so I can tuck in my hair easier.

About Speedo In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn?t take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it?s manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange. Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits. Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland?s Inge de Bruijn.
