I have had the same pair of these since 1986. I wear them mostly for snowshoeing and general snowy weather. These boots are truly water/snow proof and the liners are still going strong after all these years. When they finally need replacement, it's a simple swap-out rather than a whole new pair of boots. They are rather industrial looking but, that being said, these are not designed to make a fashion statement, but rather to be perfectly functional. I have never had a problem with the fit or stability mentioned by other reviewers. If you're on the fence on this purchase, pull the trigger but keep in mind, you'll have these suckers for twenty years!Customer Review: 20+ years and still going strong

Purchased in 1985 at an Army surplus store in Colorado, these boots have been through EVERYTHING. As one of the original Burton snowboard riders (yes wood) these were also used for 6 seasons of snowboarding. I find them warm, comfortable, and bulletproof. I'm just NOW starting to see rust in the lacing straps, and yes I still use them almost daily from November to March. I figure another 5 years and they will be ready to retire.
I hope R. Smiths story is not indicative of current quality but I don't think so...probably just a fluke. I've tried friends pairs recently and the quality is still built in.

This boot is a one-time purchase. Once you have these, you will never need to purchase anything else, they last forever! The construction is durable, comfortable, and sized slightly large (to accomodate for warm socks!). They are very sturdy boots, that lace up high. We live in Upstate NY, and the winters here are brutal...these boots have been perfect for shoveling out in the snow. They are quick to put on, and keep your feet nice and warm. After purchasing several other pairs of boots prior, Sorel is a brand that will last. Definitely take the chance and try them out!Customer Review: After 30 years, time to buy a new pair of Sorels

I live in Rochester, NY. My friend gave me a pair of used Sorels 30 years ago and I have changed the inserts twice. I figure the age to be about 37 years old. My feet have never been cold or wet. The only reason I am buying a new pair because I am handing them down to my son. He has never seen me in an other pair since he can remember. Sorels are the best winter boot there is. Just received these boots - breaking them in right now not that it will take much. They are a great snow boot - warm, totally water proof and give the feel of being able to trech through the slop in Foxboro after a long tailgate. I give them an A.
