Sports reviews of Sole F85 Treadmill (2009 - 2010 Model)Customer Review: Cushioned, extra-long track is fantastic. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
We ordered the Sole F-85 directly from Sole due to reading some negative comments about Amazon delivery, but our experience with delivery was poor, anyway.
The treadmill was not on the truck when the delivery folks arrived; no one bothered to load it before they left the warehouse. When we unpacked it after it was finally delivered (a week later), we discovered that a sidebar was dented. (We paid extra to have it delivered to the room we wanted it in. I'm glad, because it was raining hard the day it arrived. There is no way I could have got the box into the house myself, even if I took out the components first.) My husband assembled the treadmill in about an hour-and-a-half. The instruction manual provides the most basic instructions. Not extremely helpful unless one already has an idea of how things go together. (I don't.) The only hitch was fitting the wires into the handle area and then getting the cover over it. It's very tight.
It didn't seem to us that the dent affected the performance of the treadmill, but I called customer service, anyway. My experience with customer service was 100% positive. My call was answered immediately. I spoke with a woman in the service department, and she wrote up a work order, then transferred my call to the technical department. I waited about 5 minutes before my call was answered by a technician. After I explained the problem, the technician asked if I could email some digital photos of the damage. I did, and he called me within a couple of hours to let me know that, while he felt certain the damage was superficial only, he was ordering a new siderail to be installed by a technician, who will also check the treadmill for hidden damage. I certainly can't ask for more than that!
The treadmill itself is everything it was advertised to be; solidly built, with a very cushioned running surface. We replaced our Proform treadmill because the running surface was hard and unforgiving, and too short. The Sole F-85 provides a solid, extra-long track (60 inches) that feels very stable and comfortable underfoot. I'm more of a walker than a runner, but this treadmill makes running fun!
Due to its size, I wasn't sure I could handle folding and unfolding the treadmill, but it's very easy to lift up and fold closed, with minimal effort required. And unfolding is even easier; just push up with one hand, release the lever with the other, let it down a bit, then it lowers itself to the ground. Fantastic! I had no problem plugging in my iPod; the sound quality is more than adequate for exercising to. The fans are a waste for me, I just turn down the A/C and turn on the ceiling fan. I'm still figuring out the programs, but it's easy to adjust the speed and incline as one is exercising.
If you're looking for a fancy treadmill with all the bells and whistles, this isn't it, but if you want a solid, durable, comfortable treadmill that is backed by an excellent warranty and superb customer service, check out the Sole F-85.
