Description of Sigg Lifestyle Loop Top Water Bottle (1.0-Liters)

Perhaps you're sick of your boring-looking plastic water bottle that makes water taste like yesterday's fruit punch and sick of worrying about stuff leaching into your water. Grab Sigg's Lifestyle 1.0L Screw Top Bottle. Sigg's non-leaching, BPA-free interior lining combats residue buildup, so flavors won't stay behind, even if your bottle sits out in the sun all afternoon. Sigg extruded this decorative bottle out of a single piece of aluminum, so it's rugged and crack-resistant, though it might ding if dropped (dents don't crack or harm the interior lining).

  • Volume: 33oz (1.0L)
  • Recommended Use: Hiking, working out, hydrating

A safe, stylish alternative to plastic water bottles, Sigg water bottles are a great choice for transporting beverages on your daily commute or while backcountry hiking. This ultra-lightweight bottle is extruded from a single piece of aluminum and holds 1 liter of fluid (33.8 ounces). Designed to fit your on-the-go lifestyle, it comes with a loop top bottle cap, which can be secured via hook or caribiner clip to a backpack or daypack.

Sigg bottles are virtually unbreakable and are constructed with no seams, ensuring a long-lasting, leak-proof performance. They also feature Sigg's proprietary baked-on inner liner, which is made from a non-toxic, water-based epoxy resin that exceeds FDA requirements for leaching (0.0 percent) and is independently tested to be taste- and scent-neutral. Every Sigg bottle is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its life, and is backed by a lifetime warranty.

About Sigg
It all started with a simple hiker?s bottle. Today, the SIGG bottle has acquired cult status. What happened is a success story that started in Biel, Switzerland in 1908. Küng, Sigg & Cie. manufactured leisure goods, kitchenware, and electrical appliances. The company relocated to Frauenfeld in 1916, where it helped pioneer the legendary tradition of Swiss quality. Since 1998, SIGG has concentrated on its core business: drinking bottles that deliver ultimate customer benefit.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can Sigg bottles be used for boiling water?
A: No. Strong heat can damage the outer coating.

Q: Can dents in the bottle damage the Sigg bottle's inner coating?
A: No, the Sigg inner coating is highly elastic. Dents cannot crack or chip the internal lining and the Sigg bottle remains perfectly usable.

Q: Can I use my Sigg bottle for carbonated drinks?
A: Yes, all Sigg bottle tops provide a 100 percent seal and will not leak. It's recommended that you fill the bottle no further than 1/2-inch below the lip. And before taking a drink, relieve the pressure inside the bottle by gently rotating the entire top.

Q: Are Sigg bottles dishwasher safe?
A: Yes, but because of the narrow mouth of the bottle, hand washing is recommended.

Q: Can a Sigg bottle be placed in the freezer
A: No, as this may cause the bottle to crack. However, the bottle can be chilled in the refrigerator.

Customer Review: Great Look, Great Taste!
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

As many others have reported, this bottle is well worth the purchase. I myself have two 1-liter bottles. I had tried a few other (stainless steel) bottles, but they invariably ended up making the water taste like it had come out of my old Army surplus canteen. Not so with the Sigg bottles! I use my bottle for water, Gatorade (made from powder), and soda. In all cases, the drink ends up tasting perfect, with no added smell or flavor.

The caveats about damage are accurate, as the bottles can dent rather easily (what do you expect from aluminum?), but Sigg does have a repair policy where you can send the bottle to them and they can knock out the dent for you! Also, if *anything* happens to the liner inside, again, just send it to them and they'll fix it!

Cleaning of the bottle is easy as can be as well. I do not bother with putting it in the dishwasher. I had bought the Sigg brand cleaning tablets, but then discovered that simple denture cleaning tablets are the same thing, and cost a LOT less! Drop in, fill with warm water, wait 30 minutes, shake, (maybe scrub with a Sigg brush), empty, rinse (and rinse *well*), and let dry. No trouble at all!

With the vast selection of colors, styles, and shapes, and in two sizes, with several different tops to choose from, this bottle is well worth any price!

Customer Review: Not especially well insulated, but a great alternative to plastic
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I've been using a refillable plastic water bottle for gym visits etc., but if I forget to empty it, it quickly develops a stale odor which I get a big whiff of every time I take a gulp. I could buy bottled water and have "fresh" every day, but I find that level of plastic consumption indefensible. I found an ad for a steel water bottle, and was poised to buy it, but it was made in China, and my understanding is that Chinese manufacturers may use recycled metals with little consideration of their origin--they may even have traces of radioactivity.
So I jumped on this one, which is manufactured in Switzerland. It can be washed in a dishwasher, but wouldn't need that if used exclusively for water. My daughter uses it to take to school, and our only complaint about it is that despite its reported double-wall construction, it doesn't hold liquid temperature well--heat and cold tend to be conducted quickly.

Customer Review: Right size, and pretty, but I still miss my Nalgene
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

After all the news about BPA in Nalgene bottles, I decided to switch to a SIGG. It's very pretty, and it's a good size. The smaller mouth keeps it from spilling and makes it easier to drink from in the car, or on the go. My only two issues are that the metal is really cold when you first fill it with water, and it doesn't seem to hold temperature as well as the Nalgene did. The other issue is that I'm a little concerned about cleaning it properly. I wash it every few days, and let it dry out with the lid off.....but I'm a bit apprehensive that I can't get in there and wipe it out really well....

Customer Review: Black bottle with red skull
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I debated on if I should get this or a Kleen Kanteen. After reading about the top problems with the KK, I got this one instead. I like that it had lots of different designs to pick. I like that its lighter but that's because it's made of aluminum. I've dropped it a few times and now it has a few dents, and the coating is coming off at the mouth of the bottle, so I'm sure if its safe to drink out of now. But in the time I've had it, it's been awesome! I just wish when ordering, I could choose which top I want.

Customer Review: Metallic Taste
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

It says in the packaging that these are not supposed to have a smell or taste. I washed in hot soapy water and let air dry overnight before first use. I definitely detected a metallic taste/scent. Maybe it is because it is new. I don't know but I don't like it. Other than that, the bottles are made extremely well. They look good too. The last thing is the loop top screw on lid. While I am in classes, it is awkward to have to screw and unscrew the lid. Hiking or biking the bottle is great.
