A safe, stylish alternative to plastic water bottles, Sigg water bottles are a great choice for transporting beverages on your daily commute or while backcountry hiking. This ultra-lightweight bottle is extruded from a single piece of aluminum and holds 0.6 liters of fluid (20.3 ounces). Designed to fit your on-the-go lifestyle, it comes with a loop top bottle cap, which can be secured via hook or caribiner clip to a backpack or daypack.

Sigg bottles are virtually unbreakable and are constructed with no seams, ensuring a long-lasting, leak-proof performance. They also feature Sigg's proprietary baked-on inner liner, which is made from a non-toxic, water-based epoxy resin that exceeds FDA requirements for leaching (0.0 percent) and is independently tested to be taste- and scent-neutral. Every Sigg bottle is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its life, and is backed by a lifetime warranty.

About Sigg
It all started with a simple hiker?s bottle. Today, the SIGG bottle has acquired cult status. What happened is a success story that started in Biel, Switzerland in 1908. Küng, Sigg & Cie. manufactured leisure goods, kitchenware, and electrical appliances. The company relocated to Frauenfeld in 1916, where it helped pioneer the legendary tradition of Swiss quality. Since 1998, SIGG has concentrated on its core business: drinking bottles that deliver ultimate customer benefit.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can Sigg bottles be used for boiling water?
A: No. Strong heat can damage the outer coating.

Q: Can dents in the bottle damage the Sigg bottle's inner coating?
A: No, the Sigg inner coating is highly elastic. Dents cannot crack or chip the internal lining and the Sigg bottle remains perfectly usable.

Q: Can I use my Sigg bottle for carbonated drinks?
A: Yes, all Sigg bottle tops provide a 100 percent seal and will not leak. It's recommended that you fill the bottle no further than 1/2-inch below the lip. And before taking a drink, relieve the pressure inside the bottle by gently rotating the entire top.

Q: Are Sigg bottles dishwasher safe?
A: Yes, but because of the narrow mouth of the bottle, hand washing is recommended.

Q: Can a Sigg bottle be placed in the freezer
A: No, as this may cause the bottle to crack. However, the bottle can be chilled in the refrigerator.

Sports reviews of Sigg Lifestyle Loop Top Water Bottle (0.6-Liters)

Customer Review: Lovely bottle-too many restrictions
Sport shop rating: 3 Stars

I bought this bottle as a safe and attractive alternative to plastic. I was surprised by all the "don'ts". As for the do not use boiling water or freeze-that makes sense but the "only use ready to drink" item got to me. I use a lot of individual Crystal Light type mixes and I cannot use them in this bottle. Very pricey for what it can deliver.

Customer Review: Not too functional
Sport shop rating: 2 Stars

Wish I'd paid more attention to the reviewer who warned that the bottle opening was too small to fit an ice cube in it, as I don't usually have time to chill my water . I've had it 2 mos and the vinyl covering is already peeling off-- this may bother some. I'm not sure if aluminum is the most ideal material anyway for a bottle --wasn't there some controversy with aluminum a few years ago? The instructions do warn not to use with acidic liquids.Suggest you investigate stainless w/ a wider opening.

Customer Review: Even Patagonia Dropped Them
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

When I found out about the BPA deception from SIGG, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I went ahead and shipped back my old bottles to SIGG, at my cost, for an exchange. I have friends who just threw their bottles away because of their distrust of SIGG. Over a month later, I received an e-mail with a gift code to order replacements. The replacement order and customer service was a fiasco. It took several e-mails, phone calls, and over 3 weeks to resolve.

If you aren't aware of the scandal, all SIGG bottles before August of 2008 have BPA liners. When SIGG was asked during that time, if their bottles or liners contained BPA, SIGG reps carefully worded their response to assure the public that their bottles did not. It wasn't until SIGG quietly released their new liners and an investigative report revealed their lie, did SIGG finally come clean. Patagonia, the outdoor company, was lied to in their face by SIGG. Patagonia was so upset by SIGG's deceit, that they returned ALL SIGG bottles, including ones with the new liners, back to SIGG to be recycled.

Not only are SIGG bottles not as safe as everyone thought (including Oprah), but the company itself has burned the trust of consumers and retail partners with their deception. Fortunately for us, real BPA-free alternatives do exist. I personally own 2 Camelbak plastic bottles that use the Tritan material, which is BPA-free. If you want metal bottles, Camelbak makes them with medical grade stainless steel. Klean Kanteen also uses medical grade stainless steel but does contain nickel and is also made in China, which apparently a lot of people have a problem with. Personally, I'll be trying the Klean Kanteen bottles soon.

Knowing what we know now, I cannot imagine anyone trusting this brand or company again. I certainly am through being a supporter and customer. If you want more information, feel free to Google "SIGG BPA" and you'll be inundated with negative press. The number of articles speaks volumes of the outrage SIGG has caused. Be safe everyone!

Customer Review: SIGG Bottles contain carcinogenic BPA
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

Breaking News - SIGG Bottles contain BPA after all. Sigh.
Older SIGG bottles contain BPA It's disheartening to support a brand like SIGG for making safer, BPA-free drinking bottles for kids and adults when it turns out that nope, that wasn't the situation at all. Or as the old saying goes, "we was played."

News broke this week that SIGG, the aluminum bottles we've often lauded as a safer, Bisphenol A-free alternative to plastic cups and bottles--and that my own kids drink out of every day--have linings that contain small amounts of the proven endocrine disrupting chemical.

This is the case with all SIGG bottles made before August 2008, and plenty still being sold.

Before you panic, there is no evidence that the BPA in the liner can leach into the drink - this is the statement the company has always made and continues to make. And we do believe them. My own kids continued to use their SIGG Sippies yesterday and will do so until I can get a replacement.

SIGG's assertion is that consumer concern has shifted from BPA leaching to any sort of BPA presence (which I'd agree with) and that as that shift occurred, the company worked quickly to address it by creating a new BPA-free "eco liner." Even so, we're pretty annoyed that CEO Steve Wasik played on the public's goodwill, by allowing trusting consumers to believe something they knew not to be true as early as 2006.

I don't know why he couldn't just take a page from the old PR playbook and say, SIGG bottles are safe, but we're making them even safer.

So do your own SIGG bottles contain the old lining? Look inside. If they're coppery and shiny, then yes. If they're beige and flat, they're SIGG's new eco-liners. Then it's up to you to decide what to do about it. It would be nice if SIGG would offer a bottle exchange, as TreeHugger suggested, but not holding my breath here.

Customer Review: Alas, our whirlwind romance was fated to be brief...
Sport shop rating: 1 Stars

We met in the sporting goods aisle. Instantly attracted to its perky color, appealing design, and exotic origins, I took it home. After a two week honeymoon period, during which the bottle was much loved, used only for cold tap water, and gently washed with mild dishwashing liquid and a Sigg brush, the liner started to peel off inside the neck. Whatever the liner is made of, I doubt it's edible. The end of the relationship was swift and my lack of judgment embarrassing, but I've learned my lesson. In the future, I will read the reviews first instead of letting Swiss good looks blind me to the fact that I'm falling for an expensive piece of trash.
