Sports reviews of Sigg Baby Water Bottle (0.3-Liters)Customer Review: SIGG put BPA in bottles and lied to consumers - What a bunch of jerks! Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
UPDATE: Now that I know SIGG knowingly lied to consumers (including me in an email exchange I had with the company) about BPA in their bottles, I would NEVER BUY A SIGG AGAIN. In fact, I've contacted Caddell & Chapman about the class action lawsuit. I bought a SIGG to be safe and they deceived and lied to make more money. What a bunch of jerks!
OLD REVIEW BACK WHEN I THOUGHT SIGG WAS DECENT AND HONEST (Boy was I wrong!)
I purchased the SIGG because I wanted a water bottle for my kids that was safe and Bisphenol A (BPA) free. I wanted to avoid all the dangerous plastics including #1 polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), #3 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and #6 polystyrene (PS).
I also wanted a bottle that was NOT made in China as that country seems to have no safety standards.
I had concerns about the SIGG liner, so I contacted SIGG via their online email and while they won't say exactly what is in their liner (it's a secret,) they did send me the following email, "We can ensure that non of any of these plastics DEHP, PET, PETE and PVC contains in our liner." (Forgive the English...he's Swiss and considering it was his 2nd language, he did a great job.)
So, I bought 4 bottles and love them. I know my kids don't have any dangerous plastic toxins leaking into their beverages. My only complaint and thus the lack of a 5 star review is the lid. For little kids, a sippy style lid would be much better. This one, if left open/unscrewed just pours water if not kept upright. My kids have a lot more spills now. But hey, that's a small price to pay to keep the toxins away and out of their bodies!
Customer Review: It's chipping! Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
After lots of research, I purchased my kids each a Sigg cup and a Klean Kanteen. While I like the LOOK of the Sigg cup better, I am so disappointed with the cup's performance. We haven't had these cups more than a couple of months and all ready there are dents and chipping paint. I know it has this "leach-proof liner," but I wonder how well it works when the cup is dented. My son's cup I can't even give him, as he is only 1 and I worry that he'll bite it and injest some of the chipping paint. I am so shocked that these cups get such great ratings. While I'd definitely buy another Klean Kanteen, I would never, ever buy a Sigg again, especially not for a young child. My daughter is older and more careful with hers, but even hers has a couple of spots where the paint is starting to wear. She does love her cup, a 20oz Sigg and will be so disappointed when I wind up tossing it. Sigg cups are so expensive. I expected that it would last for years, not merely a couple of months.
Customer Review: NOT SAFE FOR YOUR KID! Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
I do not trust this company. The bottles have a chemical liner and the company does not disclose the composition. Some bottles contain a copper-colored liner which contains BPA, as the company admitted recently. Newer bottles have a different liner, but the company again does not disclose the composition and when I purchased my bottle, after thorough washing, I could detect a weird taste in the water. I do not feel comfortable giving this bottle to my daughter, since I don't know what she would be drinking dissolved in her water. I bought mine directly from the SIGG website and their 30-day return policy is a joke (only store credit, $5 restocking fee per item, $10 if it has been used, plus of course you pay for shipping). So now I am stuck with a possibly toxic bottle that I cannot use. I recommend you buy stainless steel bottles like those from Klean Kanteen, which even SIGG's research posted on their website showed that they do not leach anything toxic.
Customer Review: Flaking a drawback Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
I purchased this costly (for sippy cups) item for my grandson. It got dented and began shedding gray flakes from the inside. It got tossed in less than a month. I was very disappointed in this product. I have tried several brands with not so satisfactory results. I hope manufacturers will step up to the plate and produce decent bpa and phthalate free bottles and cups for our newborns and toddlers as well as the rest of us.....and make the price affordable!
Customer Review: Sigg baby water bottle Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
I purchased two bottles(0.3l) for my daughters because It is brand named product.
The cap is very cheap plastic and very easily broken.
It is also very unsafety as a baby/kid bites the top of the bottle(plastic part).
I contacted SIGG customer services for the one of issues but they did not care. They advised me to purchase the parts in their website.
