Sports reviews of Sigg 0.6-Liter Lifestyle Water BottleCustomer Review: Sigg is the new standard; Frames makes it mod. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Carry a water bottle and keep it filled with filtered water from your home and do not purchase bottled water in stores. You'll cut down on plastic waste and help save the planet and cut down on estrogenic plastic by-products in your body. As a multi-year Nalgene enthusiast (the old polycarbonate ones which leach Bisphenol A into the water) I was due for one of the new Bisphenol A-free Nalgene or one the aluminum bottles, of which Sigg is the leader. I received a black one with the frames design (awesome and beautiful - looks like a work of pop art) for Christmas and it has been my constant companion ever since.
Siggs are made in Switzerland and it shows. They are beautiful and light as a feather. The aluminum body transmit temperature rapidly so water in them gets cold quickly in the fridge. They are fully lined and transmit no flavor to the water inside them after a good initial washing. I haven't tried putting other beverages in, so I can't comment about flavor retention. I'm a water purist with my narrow-necked bottles. Even after they have sat in your bag all day, your water still tastes pure and sweet. That's utterly awesome.
The drawbacks with Sigg bottles as opposed to Nalgene are that 1) the cap isn't attached and can get lost; and 2) the bottle is fragile. Aluminum is soft and easily dented. The price of Sigg's light weight and thin walls is that they are easy to dent. Most dents do will not result in leaks, but these aren't battle hardened tanks like Nalgenes were.
All in all, Sigg bottles give you peace of mind, and a full liter of water readily at hand. It's a way of life, and one that I'm quite happy with.
Description of Sigg 0.6-Liter Lifestyle Water BottleUnlike plastic bottles that retain and combine the tastes of your last three drink flavors, the aluminum Sigg Lifestyle 0.6L Screw Top Bottle combats taste-retention and residue buildup. The Lifestyle Bottle's interior eco-lining is leach-proof and BPA-free. Sigg extruded this screw-top bottle from a single piece of aluminum so it's rugged and crack-resistant, though it will ding a bit if dropped (dents will not affect the interior lining).

Why toss out yet another plastic bottle, or let plastic chemicals leach into your water, when you could use a stylish, timeless Sigg bottle instead? History of SIGG Bottles SIGG Switzerland dates back to 1908, when metal processing specialist Ferdinand Sigg established an aluminum product factory 30 kilometers outside of Zurich. Along with his colleague Xaver Küng, the two men combined their love of metal and the strong belief that "aluminum is the material of the future." Their product line, which was called SIGG AG Aluminiumwarenfabrik, was initially comprised of saucepans, frying pans and bottles. By 1958, SIGG had thousands of products that were all manufactured in the company's own rolling mill and drawing shop. For the last 90 years, corporate headquarters have been based in the charming village of Frauenfeld Switzerland, where SIGG employs about 60 dedicated people, and following its recent 100 year anniversary, SIGG has its sights set on growing the brand outside of Europe. In 2005, SIGG launched a USA subsidiary based in Stamford, CT. SIGG's Products SIGG, "The Original Swiss Bottle", is recognized world-wide for Swiss quality and craftsmanship that comes from 100 years of heritage and experience. Produced from a single component that is seamless and has no comparable weak points, SIGG bottles are tremendously durable and virtually unbreakable. In June 2006, Backpacker magazine conducted a relentless field test of leading water bottles brands. With a 100-pound cannon packed with golf balls, they were able to destroy all of the targeted bottles--except SIGG's. Backpacker dubbed SIGG "The World's Toughest Water Bottle." As tough as they are on the outside, it's the inside of SIGG bottles that make them unique. Due to SIGG's proprietary internal coating, these high-tech bottles are resistant to fruit juice acids, energy drinks, alcohol, and virtually any beverage. Because the liners are taste- and scent-neutral, you can enjoy any beverage you'd like without lingering smell or taste of the last beverage you drank. The composition of the liner also reduces chances of bacteria build-up. And since the liner is virtually baked into the inner walls of the bottle, it will not flake or chip even if dented on the outside. Combining function and fashion, SIGG bottles come in over 100 unique, eye-catching designs. Utilizing 30 independent artists from around the world, SIGG Switzerland introduces new, cutting edge styles every year. Leak-proof caps are interchangeable, creating over 1,000 possible combinations. SIGG bottles are 100% recyclable after their very long lives. In fact, most SIGGs are still being used 10-20 years after purchase. 1% For The Planet "1% For The Planet" is an alliance of businesses committed to leveraging resources to create a healthier planet by committing 1% of all sales to environmental causes, and SIGG is a proud member.
