Sports reviews of Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike (Red)Customer Review: Great price, which is why I accept the manufacturing flub Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I got this trike for 30 bucks during Christmas; normaly it goes for 90. The bike is super stylish and tricked out with chrome and a nice wood panel in back. It even comes with a bell, which I did not expect. During assembly, I noticed that there are two support screws to accompany the rear bolt for the back tires/wood panel assembly where the guide holes were not drilled anywhere near where they should be, so I was forced to omit them. But, the rear assembly is situated in such a way where the weight of the child would hold the assembly in place anyway if the main bolt came loose. It's not a safety issue, in my opinion, as if it ever came loose the seat would only fall about two inches. My child loves the bike so much, there's no way I would return the bike for such a minor issue. Remember, this is a tricycle...no high speeds or jumps. If I paid full price, however, I would return it for a perfect bike. At any price, you will not be dissappointed and neither will your child.
Customer Review: Perfect Birthday Gift Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
We bought this for my son's 2nd birthday and it was a hit! He absolutely loves it and wants to ride it everywhere. My son is a little short (only 34 inches tall) and with the seat all the way he can put his feet on the pedals but he can't push the pedals all the way around. Regardless, though, he loves to just sit on it and scoot around with his feet. The bell makes it extra fun for him and he loves to put stuffed animals on the back to ride with him.
We love how sturdy the trike is, the base is so broad that there's really no concern about him tipping it. Even when he sits on the back of the trike it doesn't move. We also love the way it looks--it's the perfect, classic triclyce. I would highly recommend to anyone.
We haven't had any problems with the wheels deflating as some have mentioned. My sister has had this same tricycle for her son for over a year and said she's never had problems with the wheels either.
Customer Review: Very well built tricycle, excellent! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I am surprised that Schwinn trikes are not available at conventional stores. This is an excellent product that should definitely be on top of every parent's list. We decided on the Schwinn roadster after exhaustive research considering among other trikes, Kettlers, Italtrikes, Radio Flyer, etc.. but found this to be the best not just in build quality but also great value for the money you pay (Kettler is just too expensive). Our son just turned 2 and we first thought that he might be too small for this trike after reading other reviews. For now he does reach the pedals (he is 27" tall) but has yet to learn how to pedal. He scoots around easily, as the seat is low enough. Assembly was extremely easy - 4 steps, took me all of 10 minutes. It rides so smoothly. We are as excited as our son is with this trike and cannot wait for him to learn to pedal around with it. Excellent trike and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Customer Review: WOW, WHAT A COOL TRIKE!!! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This trike is as cool as it looks. Serioulsy neat. Gave it to our 2.5 year old for Christmas. He LOVES it, as did all the family (we looked like heros!). Retail is around $90, but we got it on sale for $35. I'd say it is worth closer to $90 (but do try to get it on sale - note it's defintely better than a typical trike, which runs around $50 average retail, so even if you spend a bit more than average it is WELL WORTH IT). Now, keep in mind this is a mass produced toy, so don't expect perfection in every detail (i.e. some stickers on ours were slightly misaligned, and there was a slight ding in the fender - but come on, the cool part is it HAS A FENDER!!). The child riding this should have it dinged up on their own in no time, so don't sweat the tiny things. Anyway, only my husband and i noticed as we put it together. Noone else sees any flaws. Overall one of our best purchases!
Customer Review: Schwinn Roadster is the best for tall kids Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This bike is great! Not only is it the envy of all the kids and parents it is also great if you have a taller, bigger kid. My son is 2 but is already 3 ft tall (he takes after his 6 ft something fit dad). Other trikes are too small, he can hardly sit in them. This one allows him to sit comfortably and still have growing room, plus the metal makes it strong enough to easily hold his extra muscle weight. The real tires are a plus as plastic ones just don't go very well. I highly recommend this bike for parents with taller kids. You will be very satisifed. One parent told me they thought about getting it but it looked too big for their dainty 1 1/2 year old. I agree she is too small at this point in time for it, but there was no way my son could even fit on her little dainty plastic trike. Again I recommend this bike for durability and fit for taller kids.
