Sports reviews of Schwinn Pillow Top Cruiser Bicycle Seat

Customer Review: Bliss!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This isn't as large as a cruiser saddle and it is more comfortable.
It is no bigger than the Brooks springer models; however, this Schwinn is lighter and easier. The Schwinn has no hard edges and it actually helps circulation rather than what usually happens with a larger saddle.
What a nice difference!
As for mine, I caused it to support a performance riding posture (headfirst--road style) by removing the tiny screws from the front, drilling 3 large holes underneath at the front, fishing some foam out of the "horn" through those holes underneath to soften the "underneath" contact area.
The slight extra weight of this saddle was certainly worth its facilitation for comfy distance. It is about half the weight of other saddles this size. That's size 4 (small cruiser, large mountain). It won't "friction" your legs too much.
For a road bike (if Terry Cite X isn't enough) just go ahead and use it (adaptation to soften the "horn" described above). Sure, this looks different, but go with whatever works. Having the padding in the saddle instead is a great way to stay cool in the summer. Its also really good for a "spinbike" saddle, simply because its easier to spin when you can actually sit down.
It does not need any modification to use it with a hybrid or mountain bike. Pop it right on and bliss is yours.
This item is a highly-recommend for those who want more distance. Time in the saddle is key, and this one is a nice place to be.

Customer Review: Must Have Seat for Long Riders
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I just recently started riding to and from work on a bike and my first experience was a painful one. I was riding a Trek Mountain bike with the standard seat. Add into the mix that I'm about 6'2 and weigh about 230 lbs. (one of the reasons I began riding)and I carry about a 40 lbs. pack on my back (school items and God knows what else) and you can probably tell I had one painful ride (about 8.5 miles each way). After two days of riding on the standard Trek seat my groin area went numb and I decided it was time to get a quality seat. This seat is very inexpensive and made my ride A LOT more enjoyable!

It's pretty easy to install, but if you're not comfortable working on your bike and you want to play it safe I'd recommend you take it to a bike shop and let the pros handle it. However, this is not necessary because it really is pretty simple to install. I used two sets of pliers on mine and it has been secure since.

One thing I am concerned about, more because it is annoying rather than unsafe, is that my seat squeaks a good bit when I lean forward on it. This could be because I am on the heavier side right now, but it's good to know in case you're around my weight.

Overall, I'm very happy with this seat. The price is low and the quality is high. I highly recommend this seat to anyone traveling long distances. For the price, it's absolutely worth a try.

Customer Review: Comfy - even for an ectomorph
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I'm as close to a classic ectomorph as it comes (6'2", 165lbs) so I don't have a lot of -ahem- padding back there. Let me tell you this seat is bliss! It's wide and soft and also narrow in all the right places. The seat is not soft like a pillow top mattress, rather I would best describe it as supportive - firm but still plenty padded. There are rubber bumpers in the back which do a good job absorbing the bumps, even with a hardtail bike. There is a small channel down the middle to protect your man parts, but it's not as deep as other seats so if man part protection is really high on the list, you might look elsewhere. Otherwise, its really comfy and I can pedal for miles in this saddle.

I was quite surprised to find it ships with a seat clamp that fits 7/8inch seat posts (BMX style). If your bike is more modern, chuck this out and clamp to the seat rails directly. The seat rails are rather short so there's not a lot of fore-aft adjustment possible.

The seat is not overly heavy. In fact, considering its size I'd say it is surprisingly light. I'm sure this is due to use of high density urethane foam vs. gel. Seat is covered with a rubbery surface (no fabric at all) so its not well ventilated, but when you're pedaling hard no seat fabric type will really prevent the sweats.

Overall, highly recommended and one of the best investments I've made for my bike.

Customer Review: Schwinn Pillow Top Cruiser Bicycle Seat
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I think that this is the best seat when calculating quality versus price. First of all the price is great, and the quality of the product is also great. This is the third seat that I've had on my bike. The first seat was the super-hard and unbearably uncomfortable seat that came with the bike (the seat was pretty narrow). The second seat was a wider seat that I took off of an older Schwinn bike, although it was better it was still pretty hard. Finally I find this seat, and I believe my search for a great, comfortable seat is over. This seat is wide, but not overly wide (it doesn't take away from the streamline look of a bike). The seat will add 1-2 inches compared to the generic seats, but that's good for me. With some quick adjustments I was able to find a very comfortable position. The reason that I bought this seat was because I wanted a cushioned seat, and this seat did satisfy that reason (it is very nice on the rear). Without doubt, any seat will make you feel discomfort, and that depends on how long you've been on it, but with this seat it'll take a few more miles of biking for you to begin to feel it.

Customer Review: good improvement for the price
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

first of all, the price can't be beaten.

i read the reviews and thought this seemed safe to buy. i was not disappointed.

i took my schwinn bike out for a ride today and changed the seat in under 5 minutes with my little wrench.

my last stock seat used to feel like a brick - seems they intentionally make it that way to encourage people to upgrade, but that's another review.

anyway, being a guy, the seat felt comfortable - soft, yet FIRM, instead of like an all-around brick like my last seat. it has little springs below it and i suppose that helps. bumps and holes are a easier now, but still worth avoiding if possible.

the seat is sort of shaped like a cup - good for girls, not so much for guys... but still an improvement. had i paid twice the price or more for this seat i may be disappointed but considering the price this is a great improvement. will i upgrade again? no. this one is acceptable. if my review is helpful, vote me up.
