Sports reviews of Schwinn Free Runner LT Jogging Stroller (Blue/Black)Customer Review: Well Designed with Nice Surprises Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I was given the Schwinn Free Runner LT as a gift (that I was able to choose from a number of models) and have been very happy with it straight from the beginning. I chose it for the Schwinn name, and also for its light weight frame.
My baby, who is not that keen on being strapped into strollers in general, immediately was pleased as punch with the new Free Runner LT. Why? Music. It has an ipod pocket with a jack, which runs to stereo speakers, so he can listen to his favorite music while I walk and run. He seems very secure and happy in the 5 point harness seat and you can tell he is comfortable.
Another great feature that I was not aware of when I chose it is that it included an electronic distance/time pedometer that slides into a notch on the handlebar. At a glance I can get statistics on my avg speed, distance, time running, or just see what time it is. I was very happy to see this.
There are lots of pockets: A big underseat basket, net pockets behind the seat, a zippered pocket for small stuff you want to keep secure, the velcro closing pocket designed for the MP3 player, and an open tray for holding stuff in front of the handlebars. No need to worry about where to store stuff if you're out for awhile. The weather shield rolls up into the visor when not in use which is also a space saver.
Assembly was very easy. You just have to put the wheels into their holes where they click into place, and for the front wheel, jiggle with an already assembled nut unit to get the wheel centered and the brakes aligned. I am still a bit confused about how to fix the seat height because it seems like the chord that adjusts it should hook or afix somewhere - no mention of it in the documentation, though.
This stroller takes bumps very well and I have found that it does well both on city streets and rural paths. The quality of the product is high - no squeaks or complaints from this smooth cruising stroller. The tires are like bike tires, and there are shock absorbing spring units, so you can hit bumps without having to think about lifting the front or making adjustments to your stride in any way. This stroller takes cobblestone very smoothly, unlike many other strollers.
The Schwinn Free Runner LT is a much better ride than my baby's regular stroller, and he prefers it over his other one. I wish I had a compact version of this stroller for everyday use. Due to the size, it is a little bit awkward to maneuver around in stores, so we have to leave it at home when out shopping. The fixed front wheel is fine for exercising, no problem when out walking and running.
