Sports reviews of Schwinn Adult Comfort Gel Bicycle SaddleCustomer Review: Soft, Durable Seat Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
This seat is comfy, but still sturdy enough it feels like a racing seat. The perfect seat, especially for the money! I've been riding 10 total hours the past 2 days, and I haven't a bit of soreness!
Customer Review: Better but not quite Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
A big improvement over the stock saddle I was riding but less comfortable than I wished it were but then what I really want is a tractor seat.
Customer Review: CAUTION: Product description is misleading Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
The product description for this saddle is misleading. This same saddle, Schwinn's SW521 (the product number listed in the product details) was called the Schwinn "Clear Gel MTB Saddle" in 2009. It is not a wide comfort-style saddle, even though Schwinn lists it in their "comfort" category. Also, as can be seen in the photos, it is not lycra-covered as listed, but rather is a type of embossed polymer material that is stitched to a rubber-like border on the sides.
As other reviewers have noted, the first Amazon fish-eye picture from the side makes the saddle look wider than it is. The top-view picture gives a correct perspective. The saddle is a mountain or road bike sport saddle with a width of 6.25" and a length of 10." It has two gel pads and a small cutout in the plastic frame under the saddle nose that reduces pressure somewhat. However, it is still relatively firm sport saddle for those who ride frequently. For that purpose it is a decent saddle, although the stitching has a rough texture, so it may be felt through thin riding shorts. It is not a wide, soft comfort saddle for upright casual riding. If you are looking for that type of saddle, this isn't it.
Customer Review: Good cheap seat. Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
My 15 year old seat was worn torn and ugly and I saw this on sale so I bought it. Its about as uncomfortable as the old seat on my 10 speed but it sure looks a lot nicer. The seat is pretty firm, so lighter people may not get much cushioning out of the padding. You do have to tighten the snot out of the bolts otherwise it will tilt after its mounted. Just like most seats, you can flip the mounting bracket and slide the seat forward or backward on the rails to fine tune your reach to the bars.
Edit added here: After switching this to a few different bikes I got to say, this seat works a lot better on a relaxed bike than a "sport" bike. The cushioning actually works when you have lots of weight placed on it. On a road bike with your weight on your legs and arms its not so good. Make sure you're going to use it only on a short trip bmx/cruiser/hybrid if you buy it. Something with the seat lower than the bars. FYI its not as fat as the fisheye photo would lead you to believe..
Customer Review: Better but Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
This seat is WAY better than the original that came with my Schwinn 10-series exercise bike. Smaller, better suited to my petite frame. However, I'm unable to ride more than 30 minutes without my derriere getting numb-even with frequent repositioning. Perhaps it's just that I'm out of shape and will improve as I tone up. We'll see.
